To treat conditions caused by excessive alcohol consumption, leading to the accumulation of intense heat steaming internally, causing dryness and depletion of the *Jin-Ye* (Body Fluids) of the Five Zang Organs, sluggish blood circulation, polyuria, emaciation of muscles, and a specific craving for Deer Antler (one liang, processed with wine), Dodder Seed (soaked in wine), and Chinese Yam (each two liang).
Grind the above herbs into a fine powder, mix with refined honey to make pills the size of golden rain tree seeds. Take thirty pills per dose before meals, delivered with rice water; strong decoction of Ginseng Root is also acceptable.
Another method uses wheat flour paste to make pills, which can be taken with salted wine or salted water. This formula is also known as Dragon Liver and Phoenix Marrow Pill.
To treat *Xiao Ke* (Wasting-Thirst Syndrome) characterized by excess heat, mental restlessness and confusion, excessive drinking of water, and urine resembling lipid bran flakes, occurring day and night without restraint.
Large Winter Melon (one fruit), Coptis Rhizome (remove fibrous roots, half jin).
First, crush the Coptis Rhizome into powder. Cut off the middle third of the Winter Melon, retaining two-thirds of it. Remove all the pulp inside, and place the Coptis powder into the hollowed-out melon. Replace the cut-off top as a lid. Wrap the melon thoroughly with white wheat flour dough, then wrap it again with a layer of hard yellow clay mud. When slightly dry, place the melon on ash fire, surround it with charcoal fire, and burn until the mud turns red, then stop. After cooling, remove the mud and peel off the flour layer. Open the melon to obtain the Coptis juice. The amount is not limited; filter the juice. Take one cup per dose, drink when thirsty, and recovery will be immediate. Prepare another batch: dry the winter melon skin and flesh in the sun. It is also effective for treating bone-stealing fever (Gu Zheng Lao Re) and chronic jaundice due to alcohol. Grind these into powder, take two qian after meals mixed with warm water, which is very effective.
To treat *Xiao Ke* (Wasting-Thirst Syndrome).
Take one jin of Smoked Plum, crush it, add four large bowls of sweet water, and decoct until reduced to one bowl. Filter out the dregs. Add five jin of White Rock Sugar Honey and half a liang of Amomum Fruit Powder. Place in a earthenware vessel and slowly boil over low heat until it turns reddish and becomes an ointment/paste. Remove from heat and let cool. Add three qian of Sandalwood Powder and one zi (a small unit of weight) of Musk. Mix evenly. Store in a porcelain vessel, seal tightly. In summer, mix with cold water before taking; in winter, mix with boiling water before taking. The poem states:
Smoked Plum resolves phlegm and stops thirst, Honey generates fluids and moistens Heart and Lungs;
Sandalwood greatly clears summer-heat toxicity, Musk opens orifices and expels evil qi.
