Take one water radish, drill seven holes around it, insert seven seeds of *Croton tiglium* (Babao), plant it in the soil, and wait for it to produce seeds. Take the seeds and replant them. When the radish matures, drill seven holes again, insert seven seeds of *Croton tiglium*, and replant. Repeat this process three times; on the fourth occasion, when the radish is about to flower, pull it up by the roots and dry it in the shade. For patients with abdominal distension (Guzhang), take one radish, crush it, decoct it in water, and drink the soup. For severe cases, use two radishes, and recovery will be immediate; truly a celestial prescription.
Radish Seed (Laifuzi) 4 liang (stir-fried together with 16 seeds of *Croton tiglium*)
Styphnolobium Seed (Yazao) 1.5 liang (roasted and deseeded)
Agarwood (Chenxiang) 5 qian
Immature Bitter Orange (Zhike) 4 liang (stir-fried, boiled in strong liquor, and sliced)
Rhubarb (Dahuang) 1 liang (stir-fried with wine)
Amber (Hupo) 1 liang
Grind all ingredients into a fine powder. Take 1 qian per dose, administered with hot liquor at dawn (when chickens crow); ginger skin decoction may also be used. Subsequently, administer Jin Gui Shen Qi Wan (Golden Cabinet Kidney Qi Pill) for conditioning and consolidation.
Take one black carp, remove the viscera, and place garlic cloves inside, one clove per year of age. Seal tightly with wet paper, then coat with yellow mud. Roast over fire until thoroughly red and cooked through. Remove and consume. Recovery occurs upon passage of flatus.
Abdominal swelling is termed Shuigu (Water Drum), while swelling of the limbs, head, and face is termed Shuizhong (Edema). These should be treated separately.
Take one male pig stomach, wash it clean, insert one toad, add pepper corresponding to age (one grain per year), and a small amount of Amomum fruit (Sharen). Cook thoroughly in liquor. Remove the toad and pepper. Slowly consume the stomach and liquor completely; the swelling will subside naturally.
Another prescription:
Fry Coix Seed (Yiyiren) 3 qian until yellow, grind into powder, and take with salted water.
Take a small amount of Alumen (Zaofan) and 4 liang of jujube pulp. Pound together to form pills the size of mung beans. Take two pills each morning and evening, holding them under the tongue to dissolve.
Another prescription:
Consume Artemisia capillaris (Yinchenhao) as vegetables, or steam wheat rice, or make soup. Consume daily; recovery occurs within three to five days.
Alumen (Zaofan) 8 liang
Wheat Flour (Mian) 1 jin (mixed into cakes, roasted in fire until charred)
Atractylodes Rhizome (Cangzhu) (soaked in rice washing water)
Magnolia Bark (Noupu) (peeled and stir-fried with ginger juice)
Tangerine Peel (Chenpi)
Licorice Root (Gancao)
The above four herbs are each 6 liang.
Sichuan Pepper (Chuanjiao) 10 liang (remove closed-mouth peppers and peppercorn eyes)
Pound together into powder. Use 3 jin of good jujube pulp (pitted and boiled) and 3 jin of walnuts (shelled), mix and pound into a paste to form pills the size of wutong seeds. Take 80 pills per dose with liquor. Initially, the smell is fragrant; after cure, the smell becomes foul.
