(Continued from above) It is imperative to use wind-dispelling herbs (Feng Yao) to unblock the meridians. Currently, the liver pulse (Gan Mai) is wiry and rapid (Xian Shu), indicating that wind-heat pathogen has invaded the Liver internally. As stated in the classics, this is due to blood failing to remain tranquil and blood failing to return to the Liver for storage. One should employ Jiawei Xiaoyao San (Modified Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) to cool the blood and soothe the Liver, adding Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root) to dispel wind, thereby allowing wind to scatter and heat to resolve, so that blood naturally returns to its proper channels. The patient followed this advice and recovered after taking several doses.
