Answer: Wind is a yang pathogen, and cold is cold qi. Wind enters following deficiency, and cold arises from labor injury. If women regulate their lives in accordance with reason, then blood and qi will be harmonious, and wind, cold, summer-heat, and dampness cannot cause harm. However, if labor injures blood and qi, leading to deficiency and damage, then wind and cold take the opportunity of deficiency to invade.
If they lodge in the meridians and collaterals, blood and qi become stagnant and obstructed, failing to warm and nourish the skin and muscles. If they enter the abdomen, the Qi of the Chong vessel becomes deficient, failing to digest food and drink. Deficiency of the Large Intestine leads to frequent diarrhea; cold of the Zi Zang (uterus) prevents conception. It may also result in amenorrhea or obstruction of menstruation. Diseases form according to the site of injury, all stemming from the pathogenic factors of wind and cold.
