Crush *Amomi Fructus* (Sharen, 砂仁) with the shell stir-fried until black into powder. Mix with hot wine and take two qian. Rice water may also be used. After taking the medicine, heat is felt in the abdomen, and the fetus becomes secure. This has been repeatedly tested and verified.
[For cases of] accidentally ingesting poison, damaging the fetus and causing it to threaten abortion.
Take *Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma* (Gancao, 甘草), *Sojae Semen Nigrum* (Heidou, 黑豆), and *Lophatheri Herba* (Danzhuye, 淡竹叶) in equal parts. Decoct to make a concentrated juice and take orally.
[For cases of] bleeding and fetal restlessness after ingesting poisonous drugs or herbal medicines.
(Also treats spontaneous abortion and retained dead fetus)
Take *Moutan Cortex* (Danpi, 牡丹皮), *Poria* (Fuling, 茯苓), *Cinnamomi Ramulus* (Guizhi, 桂枝), *Persicae Semen* (Taoren, 桃仁), and *Paeoniae Radix Rubra* (Chishao, 赤芍) in equal parts. Grind into powder and make pills. Chew and swallow with light vinegar decoction.
Bleeding accompanied by heavy abdomen and fetal restlessness indicates that the fetus threatens abortion. Treatment should focus on regulating Qi and calming the fetus. Urgently take *Foshou San* (Buddha's Hand Powder), add *Amomi Fructus* (Sharen, 砂仁). If the pulse is large and there is fire, add *Scutellariae Radix* (Huangqin, 黄芩) and *Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma* (Baizhu, 白术). If abdominal pain occurs with discharge of yellow fluid, add *Phellodendri Cortex* (Huangbai, 黄柏) and *Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma* (Chuanxiong, 川芎) (each one liang), *Glucinis Semen* (Nuomici, 糯米) (one he), with one sheng of water, decoct until half a sheng remains, then take.
If a pregnant woman’s pulse is wiry and rapid, she feels aversion to cold with high fever, her lips and nails are cyanotic, and her complexion is sallow and dark, this indicates damage to fetal Qi. One must ask if there is fetal movement. If the fetus does not move but instead feels like Qi rushing upward, seizing the heart, causing suffocation and unconsciousness, or if there is bleeding, treat it as a retained dead fetus.
For cases of external contraction of Wind-Cold and internal injury from diet, use *Huoxiang Zhengqi San* (Agastache Powder for Rectifying the Qi). For cases where diet injures the Spleen and Stomach, use *Liujunzi Tang* (Six Gentlemen Decoction). For cases of stagnant Yang Qi, use *Zisu Yin* (Perilla Infusion). For those who often experience anger, leading to fullness and oppression in the chest and abdomen, which worsens after taking Qi-regulating herbs, *Shenguixinzhu Tang* (Ginseng, Angelica, Scutellaria, and Atractylodes Decoction) is suitable.
*Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma* (Chuanxiong, 川芎) and *Angelicae Sinensis Radix* (Danggui, 当归) (each two qian), *Scutellariae Radix* (Huangqin, 黄芩) and *Codonopsis Radix* (Renshen, 人参 - note: original says Renshen, usually Ginseng, but context implies Tonifying Qi) (each eight fen), *Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma* (Baizhu, 白术) (two qian), *Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma* (Gancao, 甘草), *Perillae Folium* (Zisu, 紫苏), and *Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium* (Chenpi, 陈皮) (each four fen), *Aucklandiae Radix* (Muxiang, 木香) (two fen).
Fullness and distension in the heart and abdomen, Qi rushing to the heart and diaphragm causing vexation and oppression, abdominal distension, oppression and discomfort in both hypochondria, inability to eat, and weakness in the four limbs.
*Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix* (Qianghuo, 羌活), *Paeoniae Radix Rubra* (Chishao, 赤芍), *Poria* (Chiling, 赤苓), *Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma* (Gancao, 甘草), *Pinelliae Tuber* (Banxia, 半夏), and *Arecae Semen* (Binglang, 槟榔) (each eight fen), *Cinnamomi Cortex* (Guixin, 桂心) (four fen), *Perillae Caulis* (Sugeng, 苏梗) (six fen), *Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride* (Qingpi, 青皮), *Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium* (Chenpi, 陈皮), *Tangerine Peel* (Dafupi, 大腹皮), and *Morus Cortex* (Sangbaipi, 桑白皮) (each one qian). Mix evenly. Take three qian per dose, with three slices of ginger and one jujube, decoct and take orally. Fullness and distension in the heart and abdomen, Qi rushing to the heart and diaphragm, vexation and oppression, weakness in the four limbs, and lack of appetite.
