[Da Lun] Human beings are born from the refined qi of the Five Elements and nourished by the spiritual qi of the Five Zang organs. If Yin and Yang are harmonious and the Zang-Fu organs are strong, how can evil demons interfere? If regimen and regulation are improper, leading to deficiency and decline of blood and Qi, then ghostly evils will invade the righteous Qi. The patient hides themselves, unwilling to see others, speaks and laughs alone at times, and suddenly weeps in sorrow at other times; this is their manifestation. The pulse is slow and deep, or abrupt like a bird pecking, or continuous but without discernible rhythm, while the facial color remains unchanged; this is also a manifestation.
[Xue Ji] The aforementioned syndromes are mostly caused by emotional injuries damaging Heart Blood, leaving the Shen (Spirit) without protection. It is appropriate to use medicines such as Anshen Dingzhi Wan (Calming the Spirit and Stabilizing Will Decoction), so that righteous Qi recovers and the Shen becomes tranquil naturally. If the pulse fluctuates between large and small, short and long, it is also due to demonic influence. It is appropriate to moxa the Guiku Acupoint (Ghost Cry). Have the patient join the thumbs of both hands tightly bound with thread. At the junction where flesh meets nail, apply seven moxibustion cones. If it is indeed a demonic disease, the patient will beg to stop the moxibustion, saying "I will leave on my own."

Burn one pill in front of the patient's door; all evil ghosts dare not approach. Taiyi Shenjing Dan (Great One Divine Essence Pill) [see Miscellaneous Diseases: Delirium], Suhexiang Wan (Styrax Pill) [see Miscellaneous Diseases: Stroke] are also applicable.
Miaoxiang San (Wonderful Fragrance Powder): Treats Heart Qi deficiency, mental trance, inverted dreams, intercourse with ghosts, and disordered speech. Use 1 liang of Xionghuang powder and 2 liang of Pine Resin. Melt and mix with Tiger Claws, stirring until it forms a pill-sized ball. Burn it in a fire basket at night. Have the woman squat on top of it, covering herself with a blanket, exposing only her head and eyes. If not cured, repeat. Within three doses, it will be severed.
Another prescription: Mix Anxi Xiang (Benzoin Resin) and Chouhuang (Arsenic Sulfide Ore) to make pills. Burn and fumigate the Danyue (vaginal opening) to permanently sever the connection.
