Hematemesis in women is always caused by damage to the zang-fu organs. Blood circulates externally in the meridians and nourishes internally the zang-fu organs. If qi and blood are damaged, the meridians become deficient. When blood circulation deviates from normal patterns, rebellious qi leads to hematemesis. Furthermore, anger causes qi rebellion, which may severely result in vomiting blood; however,忧思 (worry and overthinking), fright, and internal injury causing rebellious qi also lead to hematemesis.
To treat hematemesis in women accompanied by mental restlessness and dizziness, use Jisu San.
Jisu Ye (Folium Elsholtziae), E Jiao (Colla Corii Asini), Ci Su (Herba Elsholtziae), Sheng Di Huang (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata) (each 1 liang), Huang Qi (Radix Astragali), Ling Yang Jiao Xie (Cornu Saigae Tataricae), Qian Gen (Radix Rubiae), Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) (each 0.5 liang), Mai Men Dong (Radix Ophiopogonis), Huang Qin (Radix Scutellariae), Dang Gui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Fu Long Gan (Caulis Longanae) (each 3 fen).
Grind the above into a coarse powder. Take 4 qian per dose. Add 1 cup of water, 3 slices of ginger, and a piece of Zhu Ru (Caulis Bambusae in Taeniam) the size of half an egg. Decoct until 60% remains, strain, and take warm.
To treat deficiency and damage with rebellious qi in women, resulting in continuous hematemesis, use Jisu San.
