Women's epistaxis is caused by damage to blood and qi. When blood and qi are harmonious, they circulate through the exterior and interior meridians; if stagnant, they do not disperse.
If labor or injury damages the qi and blood, generating internal heat that rebels upward and overflows into the nose, epistaxis occurs. Epistaxis occurring postpartum is difficult to treat and should not be easily managed.
Commentary: Generally, epistaxis is mostly caused by heat, but can also result from anger. Once, Lady Zhao suffered from incessant epistaxis, and various treatments failed. I was summoned to treat her. First, I administered four pills of *Suhe Xiang Wan*, followed by *Wuling San* decocted strongly with *Imperatae Rhizoma* flowers, which stopped the bleeding immediately. Subsequently, *Xiong Gui Tang* was used for regulation.
Another case involved a wealthy man with incessant epistaxis and surging, rapid pulses throughout all six positions. Upon inquiry, he admitted to excessive consumption of alchemical pills. Therefore, *Coptidis Rhizoma*, *Scutellariae Radix*, and *Rhei Radix et Rhizoma* were ground into powder, decocted in water, and administered orally, resulting in a cure. It may also be taken as a suspension.
