治妊娠五、六月堕胎，胞衣不出。
牛膝 川芎 朴硝 蒲黄（各三分） 桂心（半两） 当归（一两半）
上为粗末，每服四钱。水一盏，姜三片，生地黄一分，煎至六分，去滓，温温频服。
若胞衣不出，若腹胀则杀人。
黑豆（一合，炒令熟）
上入醋一盏，煎三、五沸去豆，分为三服，酒煮亦可。
疗胞衣不出方∶
服蒲黄如枣大。《集验》、《千金》、崔氏同。
又方∶以生地黄汁一升，苦酒三合，缓服之。
《救急》一方。（见子死腹中论中）
又方∶以水 产妇面，神验。
《延年》方以洗儿水令产母饮半盏，其衣便下，勿令产妇知。
又方∶牛膝（一两） 葵子（一合）
上捣碎，以水一盏半煎至一盏，去滓，分二服。

上以末灶突中土三指撮，以水服之。《集验》、《千金》、《备急》、文仲同。
又方∶灶下土（一大寸，研碎）
用好醋调令相合，纳脐中，续煎生甘草汤三、四合服。
又方∶以醋汤饮之出。
又方∶鸡子一枚，苦酒一合和饮之，立出。一方用蓖麻子，名如圣膏。（见产难门）

吞鸡子黄三个，仍解发刺喉中，令呕即出。若困极，以水煮蝼蛄一枚，二十沸，灌入口
中，汁下即出。崔氏同。
《救急》方 用赤小豆，男用七粒，女用十四粒，东流顺水吞下。
To treat the condition where, after a miscarriage at five or six months of pregnancy, the placenta (Baoyi) fails to be expelled.
Xuanshen Radix (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix), Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong Rhizome), Poxio Natrium Sulfas (Mirabilite), Puhuang Pollen Typhae (Pollen Typhae), each 3 fen; Guixin Cinnamomi Cortex (Cinnamon Bark), 0.5 liang; Danggui Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Dong Quai Root), 1.5 liang.
Grind the above herbs into coarse powder. For each dose, take 4 qian. Add one zhan of water, three slices of fresh ginger, and one fen of Shengdihuang Rehmanniae Radix Recens (Fresh Rehmannia Root). Decoct until only 6 fen remains. Strain the dregs, and take warm in small, frequent doses.
If the placenta is not expelled, and abdominal distension occurs, it may lead to death.
Heidou Glycine Soja Semen (Soybean), one he, stir-fried until cooked.
Add one zhan of Kujiu (Vinegar) to the beans. Boil for three to five boils, then remove the beans. Divide the liquid into three doses. Decoction with wine is also acceptable.
Formula for treating retained placenta:
Take Pollen Typhae (Puhuang) in a size similar to a jujube pit. This method is consistent with formulas from *Jiyan*, *Qianjin*, and Cui Shi.
Another formula: Take one sheng of juice from Fresh Rehmannia Root (Shengdihuang) and three he of Vinegar (Kujiu). Take slowly.
One formula from *Jiuji*. (See the section on "Dead Fetus in the Womb").
Another formula: Wash the mother's face with water; this is highly effective.
The *Yannian* formula: Have the mother drink half a zhan of water used for bathing the newborn. The placenta will be expelled immediately. Do not let the mother know.
Another formula: Xuanshen Radix (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix) [1 liang], Kuizi Abutilonis Semen (Abutilon Seed) [1 he].
Crush the ingredients. Add one and a half zhan of water, decoct until one zhan remains. Strain and divide into two doses.
Formula for treating retained placenta.
Take three finger-pinches of Tu from the soot inside the stove (Zaotu). Swallow with water. This is consistent with *Jiyan*, *Qianjin*, *Beiji*, and Wen Zhong.
Another formula: Zaotu Earth under the stove [one large cun], ground fine.
Mix well with good vinegar and apply to the umbilicus. Subsequently, decoct and take San Gancao Liquorice Root (Gancao) soup, three to four he.
Another formula: Drink vinegar soup to expel the placenta.
Another formula: Mix one chicken egg with one he of vinegar and drink. The placenta will be expelled immediately. Another version uses Ricinus Communis Fructus (Castor Bean), named Rusheng Gao. (See the section on "Difficult Labor").
Treating retained placenta; if abdominal distension occurs, it leads to death.
Swallow three chicken egg yolks. Simultaneously, untie hair and prick the throat to induce vomiting, which will expel the placenta. If the patient is extremely weak, boil one Mole (Lougu) in water for twenty boils, and pour the juice into the mouth. Once the juice goes down, the placenta will be expelled. This is consistent with Cui Shi.
*Jiuji* formula: Use Adzuki Beans Vigna Angularis (Xiaodou). Use seven grains for a male fetus, fourteen for a female. Swallow with flowing water from the east.
