佛手散（见杀血心痛）
Daseng San (Cordis Ginseng Decoction, see "Ancient Formulas in Furen Gui"): When pregnancy nears the due date, taking more than ten doses facilitates easy delivery. Alternatively, add Amomi Fructus (Shaoren) and Aurantii Fructus (Zhiqiao); if other syndromes are present, adjust the ingredients according to judgment.
The ancient poem states: "In the month of birth, the firstborn is like a lamb." The annotation explains: "Firstborn" refers to the first delivery; "Da" refers to a small sheep. Sheep give birth easily, hence this name for the formula.
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Bai Shao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Zi Su (Perillae Folium) (each 1 qian), Zhi Gan Cao (Prepared Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (2 qian), Da Fu Pi (Arecae Pericarpium) (washed with wine, sun-dried, 3 qian).
Add one and a half zhong of water, decoct and take. Another version lacks Dang Gui, Bai Shao, and Bai Zhu.
Qian Shi Shenghua Tang (Qian's Life-Generating Decoction, see "Ancient Formulas in Furen Gui"): This is a formula passed down through generations of the Qian family for treating women's diseases.
Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (5 qian), Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) (2 qian), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (pre-fried, 5 fen), Jiao Jiang (Scorched Zingiberis Rhizoma) (3 fen), Tao Ren (Persicae Semen) (10 grains, skin and pointed ends removed, double-kernelled), Shu Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata) (3 qian).
Crush the herbs, add two zhong of water and two dates, decoct until reduced to eight-tenths, and take warm.
Another version lacks Shu Di Huang (Note: Later generations mostly use the version without Shu Di Huang).
Modifications: For retained placenta, or syndromes of blood stasis with cold qi obstruction, blood deficiency with qi weakness, etc., continuously taking Shenghua Tang for two or three doses will expel it, or send down Yi Mu Wan (Motherwort Pill) with this decoction. Motherwort (Yi Mu Cao) moves and nourishes blood, its nature is good at moving without harming people. Women should use this medicine whether before or after childbirth. For syncope due to blood loss or deficiency, add Jing Jie Sui (Schizonepetae Spica) 6-7 fen. For postpartum qi deficiency and collapse, fatigue and weakness, add Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) and Huang Qi (Astragali Radix). For yang deficiency with reversal cold, add Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) and Rou Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex). For deficient pulse with irritability and thirst, add Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Radix) and Wu Wei Zi (Schisandrae Fructus). For qi stagnation with phlegm, add Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) and Zhu Li (Bambusae Sap). For blood deficiency and dryness leading to constipation, add Ma Ren (Canavaliae Semen) or Hemp Seed, Xing Ren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum), and Cong Rong (Cynomorii Herba). For excessive sweating and insomnia, add Fu Shen (Poria Cum Radice Xyli) and Zao Ren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen); for upper body sweating add Ma Huang Gen (Ephedrae Radix et Rhizoma), for lower body sweating add Han Fang Ji (Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix). For irritability and heat, add Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex) and Di Gu Pi (Lycii Cortex). For lockjaw, resembling wind-induced opisthotonos and convulsions, add Jing Jie (Schizonepetae Herba) and Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) each 3-4 fen. If lochia is not exhausted, accompanied by chills and fever, headache and hypochondriac distension, and inevitable lower abdominal pain and distension, add Hong Hua (Carthami Flos), Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex), Rou Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex) each 3-4 fen, and Yuan Hu (Corydalis Rhizoma) 1 qian. For internal injury from diet, add Shan Zha (Crataegi Fructus), Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Sha Ren (Amomi Fructus), or Shen Qu (Massa Medicata Fermentata) and Mai Ya (Hordei Fructus Germinatus). For external injury from cold and dampness, add Cang Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) and Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma). For blood and food accumulation, dry stool in the stomach, umbilical and abdominal distension and pain, add Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) 2 qian. For continuous postpartum bleeding, resembling roof leakage, dark black and not red, intermittent or flowing, watery or with clots, unceasing dribbling, this is a sign of severe qi and blood deficiency. Do not mistakenly use cold-cooling medicines. If the pulse is floating and depleted, add Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) and other yang-tonifying drugs; otherwise, there is no rescue. Fo Shou San (Buddha's Hand Powder) uses only Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) 3 qian and Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) 2 qian; this is its modified form.
"Kuaiqi Qian Family Generations" states: "I have discussed obstetric syndromes; they essentially belong to blood deficiency, yin exhaustion, and yang isolation, with qi also being diseased. Great tonification causes qi and blood to arise abruptly; if regulation fails, various pathogens easily invade. Si Wu Tang avoids the coldness of Bai Shao (Paeoniae Radix Alba); Si Wu Tang gains the wonder of Ginger (Jiang) and Peach Kernel (Tao Ren); qi does not dissipate, the method combines tonification; diet must support the spleen, do not specialize in digestion; heat cannot be treated with Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix) and Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma), lest old feces stagnate; cold is unsuitable for Rou Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex) and Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata), lest new blood flow cause hemorrhage. Three Yang meridians showing many exterior symptoms seem suitable for sweating, but using Ma Huang (Ephedrae Herba) would exhaust yang again; Three Yin meridians showing severe interior symptoms seem suitable for purging, but using Cheng Qi Tang (Harmonizing the Qi Decoction) would greatly deplete blood. Deafness and hypochondriac pain indicate kidney deficiency; for stopped lochia, do not use Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix); delirium and excessive sweating indicate yuan qi weakness; seemingly pathogenic symptoms, do not treat as stomach excess; reversal cold is due to decline of yang qi, hard to distinguish cold and heat, only great tonification can restore yang. Spasms are due to yin-blood deficiency, regardless of rigid or flexible spasms, only nourishing Ying-yin to moisten collaterals works. Tidal fever resembling malaria, treating as malaria prolongs the condition. Mental confusion resembling possession, treating as pathogen leads to immediate distress. All belong to great deficiency, must proceed with vigorous tonification. After much blood loss with dry stool, adding Cong Rong (Cynomorii Herba) to Shenghua Tang is not merely for moistening intestines and harmonizing qi to achieve bowel movement. With sweating and difficult urination, doubling Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) and Huang Qi (Astragali Radix) in Liu Jun Zi Tang relies on generating fluids and assisting liquids to promote urination. Adding Ren Shen to Shenghua Tang and taking it frequently saves postpartum crises. To live long and healthy, care must be taken during pregnancy preparation.
Jia Wei Xiong Gui Tang (Modified Ligusticum and Angelica Decoction, see "Ancient Formulas in Furen Gui"): Treats failure of the pubic symphysis bones to open during delivery, or fetus retention for five to seven days, in critical cases.
Sheng Nan Nv Ren Fa (Hair of living men and women, one handful, burned to retain efficacy), Zi Si Gui Ke (Shell of dead turtle, one piece, or one used for divination is acceptable, fried with butter), Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (each 1 liang).
Crush the herbs, use one liang per dose, decoct in water, wait a long time, regardless of life or death, the fetus will naturally descend.
"Liang Fang" Dang Gui Tang (Angelica Decoction) for lubricating pregnancy and inducing labor (see Upper-forcing Fetal Qi).
Experience Huashi San (Talcum Powder) (see "Ancient Formulas in Furen Gui"): Treats dystocia. When amniotic fluid has drained but the fetus is dry and stagnant, this formula is most effective.
Hua Shi (Talcum) (passed through water, 1 liang), Bai Mi (White Honey), Xiang You (Sesame Oil) (each half zhan).
Slowly boil oil and honey until three or four boils, skim off foam, mix with Hua Shi powder, take in one dose. Externally, mix oil and apply to the mother's navel and abdomen, massage up and down, immediate effect.
