The above three ingredients are mixed evenly and taken in divided doses, warmed. For those with a chronic hiccough (Yue), who are emaciated and have dry blood, with a deep and fine pulse, this indicates a loss of smooth flow and control between Yin and Yang. Question: How is the differentiation of coughs conducted? Answer: A floating pulse indicates Wind, a tight pulse indicates Cold, a rapid pulse indicates Heat, a fine pulse indicates Dampness; additionally, consumptive disease (Xu Lao) often involves coughing. All these conditions belong to the category of impaired Lung Qi movement. If attacked by Wind-Cold, and there is fluid retention in the chest, accompanied by dry retching, the pulse will be rapid and coughing present. Xiao Qing Long Tang (Minor Blue Dragon Decoction) is indicated.
Xiao Qing Long Tang Formula
Ephedrae Herba (Mahuang, 5 fen) Paeoniae Radix Alba (Shaoyao, 5 fen) Pinelliae Rhizoma Preparatum (Banxia, 5 fen) Schisandrae Fructus (Wuweizi, 3 fen) Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Ganjiang, 3 fen) Cinnamomi Ramulus (Guizhi, 3 fen) Asari Radix et Rhizoma (Xixin, 3 fen) Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, 2 fen)

In children with exposed bones and dry blood, presenting with cough, wheezing, and lack of strength, this is termed Gan Cough (consumptive cough). Ku Jiu Ji Zi (Vinegar and Egg) method is indicated, or roasted Fig Fruit with honey is also good.
Ku Jiu Ji Zi Formula
Gallus Gallus Domesticus Ovum (Jizi, one egg)
Boil the egg熟 (cooked thoroughly), remove the shell, and boil again in vinegar (Ku Jiu).
For coughers who are emaciated with dry blood and a fine-rapid pulse, hemoptysis is inevitable, indicating extreme deficiency. Die Gou Tang (Turtle and Goji Decoction) is indicated. It is said that among diseases, there are Chuan (Asthma/Dyspnea) and Xiao (Wheezing). Shortness of breath and urgency of breathing are called Chuan. Noises within the throat are called Xiao. Yue Bi Jia Ban Xia Tang (Yuebi plus Pinellia Decoction) is indicated. If Fei Zhang presents with urgent breathing, cold limbs, sweating on the forehead, and a deep-knotted pulse, it is a death sign.
Question: When Heat is in the Upper Jiao, causing cough leading to Fei Wei (Lung Flaccidity), how is this disease acquired? The Master says: It may arise from excessive sweating, vomiting, Xiao Ke (Wasting-Thirst) with frequent urination, or constipation treated with harsh purgatives causing diarrhea, leading to severe loss of body fluids. If the pulse is rapid, the patient coughs, and the mouth produces turbid saliva and froth, what is this? The Master says: This is Fei Wei. If the mouth feels dry, coughing causes dull pain in the umbilical region, and the pulse is slippery-rapid, this is Fei Yong (Lung Abscess), characterized by expectoration of pus and blood. A rapid-deficient pulse indicates Fei Wei; a rapid-excess pulse indicates Fei Yong. Jie Geng Tang (Platycodon Decoction) is indicated.

Cough with chest fullness, chills, rapid pulse, occasional bloody sputum, and foul odor indicates the onset of Fei Yong. If Fei Yong progresses to incessant expectoration of pus and blood, whole-body steaming heat, fine-rapid pulse, spontaneous or night sweats, it is incurable.
Question: How is a fishbone lodged in the throat treated? Answer: If caused by a fishbone, immediately swallow Glucose Syrup (Jiao Yi). If ineffective, repeat until cured. Question: What is Xiong Bi Xin Tong (Chest Bi and Heart Pain)? Answer: Chest pain with a slippery pulse is caused by Phlegm-Fluid retention. Abdominal fullness with chest pain and a tight-excess pulse is caused by improper diet. Cramping pain in the chest and hypochondrium that comes and goes intermittently is caused by intestinal parasites. In Taiyang disease, if the floating pulse is incorrectly treated with purgatives, it leads to chest oppression and pain, called Jie Xiong (Knotted Chest). If there is fullness without pain, it is called Pi (Obstruction). Ban Xia Xie Xin Tang (Pinellia Decoction for Draining the Epigastrium) is indicated.
Ban Xia Xie Xin Tang Formula

If epigastric obstruction is accompanied by aversion to cold and sweating, Fu Zi Xie Xin Tang (Aconite Decoction for Draining the Epigastrium) is indicated. If there is retained phlegm and old water in the heart and chest, leading to vomiting of clear fluid, followed by fullness of empty Qi in the chest and inability to eat, Fu Ling Yin (Poria Decoction) is indicated.
In Taiyang disease, if the exterior syndrome remains but multiple purgations are used, it leads to Xi Re Li (Collateral Heat Diarrhea) with unceasing diarrhea, hard epigastric obstruction, and unresolved exterior-interior conflict. Gui Zhi Ren Shen Tang (Cinnamon Twig and Ginseng Decoction) is indicated.
If chest obstruction becomes severe, it causes pain radiating to the back, agitation, and a deep-hidden pulse. Gui Jian Tang (Arrowwood Decoction) is indicated.
Gui Jian Tang Formula
Euonymi Ramus Cum Spina (Guijian, 2 qian) Nisum Humanum (Renzhongbai, 5 fen) Natrii Sulfas (Mangxiao, 3 fen) Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, 2 fen)

Zanthoxyli Fructus (Shujiao, 5 fen) Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Ganjiang, 4 fen) Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Renshen, 3 fen)
Add two sheng of water to the above three ingredients, boil until one sheng remains, strain, add two qian of Glucose Syrup, simmer gently over low heat until one sheng remains, and take in two divided warm doses.

Equal parts of Yuanhua, Gansui, and Daji are separately ground into powder. Add one and a half sheng of water, boil ten large Jujubae Fructus until eight he remains, strain, add the medicinal powders. Strong persons take one-third, weak persons take two-thirds, taken warm. After purging, nourish oneself with millet porridge.
For acute chest and abdominal pain with belching and a sliding pulse, immediately administer Salt Water Soup and induce vomiting by tickling the throat with a goose feather. Violent vomiting should lead to recovery. For hard, full, and severely painful chest and abdomen with a slippery-rapid pulse, immediately administer Hou Po San Wu Tang (Magnolia Bark Three-Ingredient Decoction).
