Slow Convulsion: For cases with mild phlegm turbidity, use Shenbao Jiji Dan (Divine Treasure Both-Heaven-and-Earth Pill) and Bai Jiangcan Wan (White Silkworm Pill); for severe cases, use Chensha Gao (Cinnabar Paste); for critical cases, use Qibao Miaosha Dan (Seven-Treasure Marvelous Sand Pill). If the condition is Slow Spleen Wind or Slow Convulsion presenting with adverse and critical symptoms, and various medicines are ineffective, if there is a pulse at Taichong (LR3), moxibustion should be applied to Baihui (GV20); this is the key principle in treating Slow Spleen Wind. There are also three degrees of purgative treatment for Acute Convulsion: for mild purgation, use Mingdan Dan (Life-Determining Pill), Lijing Wan (Relieve-Awakening Pill), Fangfeng Tang (Saposhnikovia Decoction), Xuanfeng San (Disperse-Wind Powder), Zhike San (Aurantii Fructus Powder), Xiao Chaihu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction), etc.; for severe purgation, use Qingjin Wan (Blue-Gold Pill), Tianma Wan (Gastrodia Pill), Lushen San (Aloe Powder), Niuhuang Liangge Wan (Calculus Bovis Cooling-Middle Pill), Qingjin Dan (Blue-Gold Pill), Wangjian Jingmo Wan (Wangjian's Capital-Ink Pill), etc.; for slightly severe purgation, use Jiefeng Tang (Exorcise-Wind Decoction), Zhusha Gao (Cinnabar Paste), Shufeng San (Disperse-Wind Powder), Chaihu Dahuang Tang (Bupleurum and Rhubarb Decoction), etc. After purgation, it is appropriate to harmonize qi and assist the stomach, such as using Shengqi San (Generate-Qi Powder), Yinbai Wan (Silver-White Pill), Fuling Erchen Tang (Poria and Two-Aged-Substances Decoction), Yigong San (Extraordinary-Assistance Powder), Tianma Suhexiang Wan (Gastrodia and Liquidambar Pill), Shenling Baizhu San (Ginseng, Poria and Atractylodes Macrocephala Powder), Hezhong San (Harmonize-Middle Powder), Xingpi San (Awaken-Spleen Powder), etc., all of which can be selected. Whenever Acute Convulsion presents with eyes rolling upward, bleeding from the mouth, jumping of both legs, abdominal twitching, feeling the clothes and picking at bedclothes, rapid breathing and rejection of medicine, severe pain in the mouth and loud crying, it is difficult to treat. When Slow Convulsion presents with cold limbs, vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, black complexion and pale lips, crow-like voice, movement of qi in both hypochondria, white sores in the mouth (indicating closure and damage of the Stomach), straight hair and shaking head, open eyes that do not turn, phlegm rattle with panting and choking, and traction of one side of the mouth, eyes, hands and feet, it is difficult to cure. When Slow Spleen Wind presents with cold body and sticky sweat, lying straight like a corpse, panting and coughing with soft head, incontinence of urine and feces, locked jaw and shaking head, it is most difficult to manage. If Acute Convulsion is severe, Zhenxin Wan (Settle-Heart Pill) can be taken to resolve phlegm and settle the Heart, or Jinbo Zhenxin Wan (Gold-Foil Settle-Heart Pill) can also be taken; Zhenzhu Wan (Pearl Pill) is also effective for resolving phlegm; if heat is severe and stool is constipated, Kuanre San (Broad-Heat Powder) can be used for purgation.
