Within one hundred days after birth, if an infant exhibits high fever, irritability, constant crying, upward deviation of the eyes, intermittent convulsions and spasms, cyanosis of the face, stiffening of the waist, puckering of the mouth, retraction of the cheeks, and passage of green or yellow watery stool, this condition is named Tai Jing (Fetal Startle).
This is typically caused by the mother suffering falls or fright while pregnant, or by her excessive consumption of pungent, spicy, or toxic foods. These factors transmit pathogenic influences to the fetus, causing stagnant heat within the womb, resulting in these symptoms upon birth.
