染,只出肤疹细疮,易于调治。此乃秘法,人罕知者。又断脐之法,犹当谨慎。当隔单衣以牙咬断,将口暖气呵四五遍;

The fetus receives the Qi of Yin and Yang and the Five Elements within the womb, thereby generating the Zang and Fu organs. The entire skeletal structure is complete but relies on amniotic fluid for nourishment. Once the Qi is sufficient and the gestational month is full, birth occurs. At the moment of delivery, upon leaving the maternal body, the infant has toxic fluids in the mouth and has not yet cried. Immediately wrap a finger with soft silk, dip it in Licorice Decoction, and wipe away the toxic fluids from the mouth; this is an excellent method. In urgent situations where this method cannot be applied immediately, using Coptis, Licorice, and Cinnabar is also effective to prevent the ingestion of toxins that might lie dormant within. If exposed to epidemic pathogens later, when heat steams upwards, it attacks the Heart. The Heart governs the blood vessels; once the vessels receive blood, it flows into the Stomach. The Stomach governs the muscles, so the pathology manifests externally, resulting in smallpox or chickenpox symptoms, which are unavoidable for people of all ages. If the initial mouth-wiping method is followed, the risk of smallpox/chickenpox can be avoided. Even if infected by epidemics, only minor skin rashes may appear, which are easier to treat. This is a secret method rarely known. Furthermore, umbilical cord cutting must be handled with caution. It should be bitten through while wearing a single layer of clothing, followed by blowing warm breath from the mouth four or five times. If scissors are used, they must be warmed in the chest before use. The length of the cut cord should be appropriate. If cut too short, it damages the internal organs, causing abdominal imbalance; if cut too long, it damages the muscles, causing dry, scaly skin. After cutting, avoid contact with raw water. Wrap securely with cotton paper and apply moxibustion to the umbilicus with three or seven cones, regardless of season. This method is highly effective. Otherwise, severe cases may result in Neonatal Tetanus (Umbilical Wind) with lockjaw, while mild cases may develop umbilical ulcers or abdominal pain. Wind avoidance is crucial, and warmth should be maintained for the newborn, who is like a tender grass sprout requiring careful protection.
Zhusha Zhenxin Gao (Cinnabar Calming Heart Ointment): Calms the Heart and Spirit, resolves fetal toxicity, and eliminates foul fluids. Prevents smallpox/chickenpox throughout life.
Chensha (Cinnabar, 3 fen, prepared by water levigation), Niuhuang (Calculus Bovis, 1 fen, optional).
Decoct Licorice and Coptis (each 1 qian) in water, dissolve the powder, and smear inside the infant's mouth. (Use before breastfeeding begins.)
San Chao Xi'er Fa (Third-Day Bathing Method): Use warm water for bathing; do not bathe excessively or frequently.
Zhudan (Pig Gallbladder, makes skin smooth and prevents sores), Tao Zhi (Peach Twig), Liu Zhi (Willow Twig) (Crushed and decocted to ward off misfortune).
Bathing on Yin, Mao, or You days is auspicious; other days are also acceptable.
Huiqi Fa (Restoring Qi Method): Treats infants with weak breath and inability to cry due to difficult labor and cold exposure. Immediately wrap in cotton wadding and place in the mother's chest. Do not cut the cord yet. Remove clothes, warm over fire, and cover. Ignite a paper torch dipped in oil and cauterize the umbilical cord repeatedly. The infant absorbs the fire's Qi, entering the abdomen. Then pour hot vinegar solution over the cord. Wait until the infant regains breath and cries before cutting the cord.
Tongbian Fa (Unblocking Bowels Method): Treats infants with constipation, urinary retention, and severe abdominal distension. Have the mother suck warm water from her mouth onto seven points: anterior and posterior chest, umbilicus, and palms/soles of hands and feet. Suck each point 3-5 times until redness appears. Passage will occur shortly. Failure to act results in loss of vitality. Apply this urgently.
Ci Pao Huisheng Fa (Puncture Blister Resuscitation Method): Treats stillborn infants with blisters on the upper palate, called Xuan Yong, blocking the airway. Break the blister manually, wipe blood clean with cloth, and the infant revives. If blood enters the throat, death ensues.
Bianshen Wupi Fa (Body Without Skin Method): Treats infants born without skin. Powder dried white early rice and apply dryly until skin regenerates.
Wu Gudao (Absence of Anus): Treats infants born without an anus. A substitute passage must be created initially. Afterwards, insert a honey-compressed pellet shaped like a jujube daily to prevent closure.
Huanyuan Tang (Restore Origin Decoction): Resolves fetal toxicity, tonifies Primordial Yang, calms the Heart, and prevents smallpox/chickenpox lifelong.
Qidai (Umbilical Cord, one piece, calcined to retain nature), Zhusha (Cinnabar, 3 fen).
Grind together with Cinnabar until fine. Administer with Licorice Decoction within seven days before or after birth.
Liuhuang Gao (Sulfur Ointment): Treats retracted testicles and incessant crying in infants under ten days old due to cold.
Liuhuang (Sulfur), Wuzhuyu (Evodia Fruit, each 2 qian).
Grind into powder. Roast garlic until cooked, mix with powder to form an ointment. Apply to the lower abdomen and bind with silk.
Xixin Gao (Fontanelle Application Ointment): Treats wind-cold invasion of the fontanelle at birth, causing nasal congestion and coarse breathing.
Tiannanxing (Arisaema Rhizome, 2 qian), Zaojiao (Gleditsia Sinensis, 3 fen), Beixixin (Asarum Root, 3 fen).
Grind into powder. Mix with Scallion Decoction and one teaspoon of Ginger Juice. Apply to the fontanelle and warm with hand pressure.
Miduoseng San (Lead Monoxide Powder): Treats infants born with bubble-like lesions resembling fish bubbles or crystal, leaking fluid upon rupture. Common in wealthy families living in buildings without earth contact.
Miduoseng (Lead Monoxide, 5 qian), Huangbai (Phellodendron Bark, 3 qian), Zaozhongtu (Furnace Earth, 2 qian).
Process Phellodendron with Pig Bile until yellow, then grind fine. Mix and sprinkle on lesions.
Zaoxintu (Furnace Earth, also known as Fulonggan, older is better): Highly effective for persistent umbilical discharge.
Longgan San (Dragon Liver Powder): Treats chronic umbilical protrusion with discharge turning into umbilical wind sores, a lifelong affliction.
Huangbai (Phellodendron, processed as above), Chishizhi (Red Halloysite), Fulonggan (Furnace Earth, each 1 qian), Ganyanzhi (Dried Blood of Pig, 5 fen), Longgu (Fossilized Bones, 5 fen), Baifan (Alumen, 3 fen, refined).
Grind into powder, add a small amount of Mosxiang (Musk). Store in a porcelain jar. Sprinkle sparingly on the lesion.
Dingjing Gao (Calming Convulsion Ointment): Treats fetal convulsions manifesting like epilepsy.
Chensha (Cinnabar, 2 qian).
Grind to fine powder. Mix with fresh well water. Apply to the five centers (palms, soles, and chest). Stops immediately.
Cang Taiyi Mifa (Secret Method for Placenta Burial) (From *Zimu Milu*, ensures longevity for difficult-to-nurture infants).
Clean the placenta with water, then wash with wine. Place with Soybean and Adzuki Bean (each 1 he) in a jar. Cover with City Gate Soil, Market Gate Soil, Prison Gate Soil, Scallion Garden Soil, and Leek Garden Soil (each 1 he). Seal the jar mouth with five-colored silk strips (1 chi 5 cun each). Place an iron plate (1 chi 2 cun) on top. Paint with clean ink. Write in Cinnabar: "Soybeans remove guilt, Adzuki beans remove pediatric masses; City gate soil brings nobility, Market gate soil aids walking, Prison gate soil avoids bandits, Scallion/Leek soil promotes regeneration; Give green to the child for long life; Give red for purity and luck; Give white for wealth and thousands of years; Give black for longevity without aging; Give yellow for purity and removing calamities. Execute swiftly." Place an iron token on the jar, bury deep (3 chi). This method is verified and should be practiced.
Ti Taitou (Shaving Head Hair): Auspicious on Yin and Chou days; inauspicious on Ding and Wei days.
Jiawei Guixiong Tang (Modified Angelica and Ligusticum Decoction): Taken 2-3 days postpartum to remove stasis, generate new blood, and prevent uterine lochia pain.
Danggui (Angelica Root, 5 qian), Chuanxiong (Ligusticum Rhizome, 2 qian), Shanzha (Hawthorn Fruit, 3 qian).
Decoct in two bowls of water until half remains. Add brown sugar (approx. 10 teaspoons) and take.
Yongquan San (Surging Spring Powder): Treats low lactation postpartum, or lack of milk due to anger/qi stagnation or chronic illness depression.
Shanjiapia (Pangolin Scales, 5 qian, from anterior chest, fried with Clam Shell Powder), Roudoukou (Nutmeg, 3 qian), Hutaorou (Walnut Kernel, 1 liang, peeled), Zhima (Sesame Seed, 1 liang, fried and ground with walnut into paste).
Grind into a paste. Take 3 qian mixed with good wine. Lie face down for one shichen. Stimulate flow with Pig Trotter Soup at Chen hour. Alternatively, comb breasts 1,000 times with an oily wooden comb until milk flows. If ineffective, repeat every other day. For breast distension, drink Stir-fried Barley Decoction.
