The "Treatise on the Heavenly Origin of Ancient Times" states: When a man passes the age of sixty-four (eight cycles of eight years), his congenital foundation gradually diminishes, and his primordial qi (Yuan Qi) becomes increasingly deficient. The functions of the zang-fu organs all decline; muscles and bones become lax and weak; blood vessels become short and restricted; spirit and essence are dissipated; muscles lose their luster; and he becomes emaciated day by day. One can only rely on medicinal herbs to support and protect, thereby cultivating the post-heavenly spleen and stomach. As the saying goes, "It is easy to repair a dilapidated house." This is what it refers to.
Ancient sages and philosophers personally tasted hundreds of herbs to prepare medicines, treating various diseases in people, and left behind prescription books to benefit future generations. This is truly because medicine and herbs possess the miraculous power to reverse fate and save lives. Unfortunately, those who take medicines often fail to guard their bodies carefully, leading to invasions of the six climatic pathogens from outside, excessive internal emotional disturbances, and dark attacks by various toxins in food. Even if they take ginseng and atranagalus daily, it is like using an elite army in battle against a powerful enemy that is strong and numerous; the few cannot defeat the many. If there is no effect, they conclude that ginseng and atranagalus are ineffective, discard them, and stop discussing them. Is this not inviting disaster upon oneself?
Prescription books record many tonifying formulas. Some true materials are hard to find; some precious drugs are difficult to purchase due to lack of funds; or perhaps there is exaggerated promotion of their efficacy, with names not matching reality. Now, I only select those that are simple and have been frequently verified as effective, briefly recording a few for reference. This serves both to cherish oneself and protect the body, and to widely spread these methods to benefit the world.
The previous mention of "being cautious with medicine and avoiding random experimentation" refers to the time when one is ill. The current mention of "preparing medicines and guarding carefully" refers to daily health preservation.

Soak several strips in plain hot water and eat when hungry. It soothes the spleen and widens the stomach; its merits are hard to describe fully.
Huichun Wulong Wan (This is a secret formula. After taking it, the body becomes strong and light, hearing and vision improve, hair turns black, fallen teeth regrow, sexual function strengthens, the lower dantian feels warm, and hundred diseases are eliminated.)

Rub with 5 qian borax mixed with milk butter onto the bone. Roast over fire until yellow. Weigh exactly 24 liang of bone. Zhitao Gao (Taking the principle of Wood generating Fire)
Psoralea Fruit 10 liang (cleaned, soaked in yellow wine overnight, steamed, dried, ground. Also known as Po Gu Zi) Walnut Meat 20 liang (soaked in warm water, peeled, pounded into paste) Honey 1 jin (white is better)
First, boil the honey in a pot for one or two boils. Add the first two ingredients to the honey and stir evenly. Store in a porcelain jar. Take one cup before meals on an empty stomach, mixed with wine. If one does not drink alcohol, boiling water is also acceptable. (Avoid rapeseed and mustard greens.)
Psoralea belongs to Fire, solidifying primordial yang, warming the dantian, entering the Mingmen to supplement ministerial fire. (Kidney deficiency leads to Mingmen fire decline, failing to warm and transform, causing spleen-stomach deficiency-cold, slow digestion, and reduced appetite. Thus, supplementing Mingmen ministerial fire is equivalent to tonifying the spleen and stomach.) Walnut meat belongs to Wood, warming the lungs, resolving phlegm, tonifying qi and blood, unblocking the Mingmen, assisting kidney fire. Combined with Psoralea, it creates the wonder of Wood generating Fire, filling the interior with essence and qi. Formerly, Chancellor Zheng never took other medicines, only this formula long-term. Later, his face looked young, and his beard and hair turned black.

Cow milk tonifies deficiency and勞 (consumption). Chinese yam, white enters the Lungs, sweet enters the Spleen, tonifying insufficiency, benefiting the Kidneys, strengthening Yin, benefiting Heart Qi, treating forgetfulness, resolving phlegm, stopping seminal emission and dysentery.
