A person bit through their finger with their teeth. The pain was unbearable. Over time, the finger would rot and fall off, spreading to the palm. This condition was not recorded in various medical texts. In an emergency, fill a bottle with human urine (Ren Niao) and soak the injured finger in it; it will heal overnight. If the tissue has already rotted, burn the shell of a turtle fed on snakes into ash and apply it to the wound. If turtle shell is unavailable, use tortoise shell ash applied topically for immediate healing.
If a person is poisoned by various substances, a surging pulse (Hong Mai) indicates survival, while a faint and thin pulse (Wei Xi Mai) indicates death. It is also said: a surging and slow pulse indicates survival, while a faint, thin, and rapid pulse indicates death. Generally, for poisoning by various toxins, decoct licorice root (Gancao) and mung beans (Lv Dou) in water and drink it to detoxify all poisons.
Another method: administering large amounts of sesame oil (Xiang You) is best.
One prescription for treating poisoning from realgar (Xin Shi), mercury sulfide (Shui Fen), arsenic trioxide (Shan Pi Shuang), and all lethal poisons.
Croton seed shell (Ba Dou Qiao): 14 grains for robust individuals, 7 for weak ones; Zanthoxylum (Hua Jiao), de-veined: 5 fen; Licorice root (Gan Cao): 5 fen.
Grind these together into powder, dissolve in cool water, and ingest. Vomiting should occur immediately. If vomiting does not occur, take another dose until all toxins are expelled. If vomiting persists, boil soil from old walls in boiling water, let it settle, and drink the liquid to stop vomiting immediately.
Regarding arsenic trioxide (Pi Shuang) poisoning: if ingested via meat or rice, it is easier to treat; if ingested via alcohol, the toxin disperses into the blood vessels throughout the body, making it difficult to treat. If the pain is located in the stomach and diaphragm, induce vomiting; if in the abdomen, induce purgation. Administer medicine urgently; recovery occurs upon vomiting or diarrhea.
Various prescriptions for arsenic trioxide poisoning:
One prescription: Grind half a sheng of mung beans (Lv Dou) finely, remove dregs, mix with fresh well water, and ingest.
One prescription: Infuse with human fecal juice (Ren Fen Zhi); immediate cure.
One prescription: Consume pig gallbladder bile (Zhu Ku Dan) collected in the twelfth lunar month; immediate cure.
One prescription: Burn dry rice straw to ash, leach with fresh well water, filter through silk cloth, and drink one bowl cold; toxins exit via stool.
One prescription: Drink fresh sheep blood; immediate effect.
One prescription: Grind black lead (Hei Qian) with well water and ingest; effective.
One prescription: Drink one bowl of raw sesame oil (Sheng Ma You); immediate cure.
One prescription: Store dried sheep blood, mix with well water (Jing Hua Shui) before ingestion.
One prescription: Eat freshly killed duck blood directly without water.
For arsenic trioxide and mercury sulfide poisoning: Grind one fen of chalcanthite (Dan Fan), mix with a small cup of well water, and ingest for immediate detoxification.
For impending death from arsenic trioxide poisoning: Grind loofah root (Si Gua Gen) and hibiscus leaves (Mu Jin Ye), mix with cool water, and drink one to two bowls for immediate detoxification.
For poisoning from realgar, mercury sulfide, arsenic trioxide, and pediatric intestinal parasites: Eat water chestnuts (Bi Qi) for immediate detoxification.
For croton seed (Ba Dou) poisoning: Decoct Coptis chinensis (Huang Lian) soup and drink.
For croton seed poisoning with persistent diarrhea:
Prepared ginger (Gan Jiang, Pao) and fried Coptis chinensis (Huang Lian) in equal parts.
Grind into fine powder, take 2 qian per dose, mixed with cool water.
For mercury sulfide poisoning: Scrape old wall soil (Chen Bi Ge), remove nitrate residues, make pills with water, coat with soot from hundred herbs (Bai Cao Shuang), and swallow with water.
To resolve arsenic trioxide poisoning:
Sulfur (Liu Huang, 4 qian) and mung bean powder (Lv Dou Fen, 5 qian).
Grind into fine powder, mix with cold water, and take frequently and slowly. In winter, take warm. If abdominal pain occurs, take another dose. Once pain subsides, induce vomiting with a chicken feather. After vomiting, consume warm thin porridge. Do not eat solid rice or sticky rice cakes for four to five days. This method successfully saved several people.
To treat accidental swallowing of gold, iron, or copper coins: Burn sheep tibia bone (Yang Jing Gu) to charcoal (preserving properties), grind to powder, take 3 qian per dose, swallow with rice drink. The object will pass through stool.
To treat accidental swallowing of copper coins or indigestible gold/silver items: Decoct Amomum villosum (Sha Ren) strongly and drink; the object will pass naturally.
To treat accidental swallowing of needles: Grind magnetite (Ci Shi) into powder, form pills the size of cherries, swallow, then administer laxatives to expel via stool.
Previously, a woman swallowed a needle tip. Physicians could not treat it. Cooked broad beans (Can Dou) were eaten with chives; the needle passed out with the vegetables in stool.
A child swallowed a needle stuck in the throat, dying soon after. Pills made of brown sugar (Hei Sha Tang) and yellow mud were given to swallow; the mud encased the needle, which passed out via stool.
One prescription: Red-hot charcoal, ground finely, mixed with rice soup and ingested.
One prescription: Hold a piece of magnetite near the affected area; blowing on it causes the needle to emerge.
For Pinellia ternata (Ban Xia) poisoning: Drink fresh ginger juice (Sheng Jiang Zhi).
For apricot kernel (Xing Ren) poisoning: Resolve with salt juice (Yan Zhi).
For tung oil (Tong You) poisoning: Chew persimmon cake (Shi Bing) for immediate relief.
For Zanthoxylum (Hua Jiao) poisoning causing qi stagnation: Drink fresh well water.
For Veratrum nigrum (Li Lu) poisoning: Drink decoction of scallions (Cong).
For opium (A Fu Lou) poisoning causing coma: Warm strong vinegar (Yan Cu), add rock sugar, infuse one to two bowls, and induce vomiting.
For Aconitum carmichaelii (Cao Wu), Sichuan aconite (Chuan Wu), and prepared aconite (Fu Zi) poisoning with persistent vomiting: Infuse sesame oil (Xiang You) for immediate relief.
One prescription: Soak aged wall soil in water to make tea; if thirsty, mix with water and drink.
For food poisoning: Decoct black beans (Hei Dou) and licorice root (Gan Cao), drink freely without harm; also effective for arsenic poisoning.
To treat thirst after drinking alcohol or severe fever where water consumed at night accidentally contains leeches (Shui Zhi): If leeches remain in the abdomen for three to five months, causing sallow complexion, emaciation, and abdominal distension unresponsive to other drugs: Make pills from soil, coat with sesame oil, size of mung beans. Take 100-200 pills on an empty stomach with warm water. The leeches exit with the soil; the oil facilitates lubrication and expulsion, hence efficacy.
To treat acute pufferfish (He Tun Yu) poisoning: In emergencies without medicine, infuse large amounts of sesame oil (Xiang You) to expel toxins; otherwise fatal.
Alternative method: Mix alum powder (Bai Fan) with boiling water and infuse; immediate cure.
To treat accidental swallowing of river snails (Tian Luo) stuck in the throat causing imminent death: Fill a duck's mouth with water, hang the duck upside down to collect saliva, and give this fluid to the patient. Within moments, the snail's bones dissolve.
To treat poisoning from eels, turtles, shrimp, and toads: Soak fermented soybeans (Dou Chi) in fresh well water until concentrated, warm, and drink. These three substances can cause constipation and lower abdominal pain, potentially fatal.
To treat crab poisoning: Decook Perilla frutescens (Zi Su) and drink one to two cups for immediate relief.
One prescription: Drink raw lotus root juice (Ou Zhi) or boiled dried garlic juice; both effective.
To treat poisoning from meat of six domestic animals: Grind rhinoceros horn (Xi Jiao) strongly in water, drink one bowl for recovery.
To treat blister beetle (Ban Mao) poisoning: Decoct black beans (Hei Dou) and drink. Alternatively, crush Eupatorium fortunei (Ze Lan Ye) for juice and drink.
