Dan Du (Erysipelas), also referred to as "Tian Huo" (Heavenly Fire) in medical texts, is characterized by a sudden appearance of redness on the skin and flesh resembling applied cinnabar. The affected area may be as large as a palm or, in severe cases, cover the entire body. Some cases present with pain, itching, and slight swelling.
Use Er Xiao Dou (Adzuki Bean, *Vigna angularis*) two sheng. Pound and sieve it into powder, mix with Ji Zi Bai (Egg White) to form a paste, and apply to the lesion. Reapply as it dries; the condition will gradually subside. If covering the whole body, double the dosage. Even if it recurs, prepare anew. Internally, Lou Lu Tang (Caulis Euphorbiae Decoction) is suitable for administration.
Lou Lu Tang Formula

Substitution guidelines: If Lou Lu is absent, use ten Zhi Zi (Fructus Gardeniae, *Gardenia jasminoides*); Bai Lian can be omitted slightly; if Huang Qin is missing, use Zhi Zi instead; if both Lou Lu and Huang Qin are unavailable, a single herb of Zhi Zi is sufficient. If Sheng Ma is lacking, use Xi Jiao Xie (Cornu Rhinocerotis, *Rhinoceros unicornis*); if Xi Jiao Xie is unavailable, use She Xian (Herba Patriniae, *Patrinia villosa*); if Da Huang is missing, use Mang Xiao (Natrii Sulfas, *Na2SO4*); if Ma Huang is absent, use Ge Gen (Radix Puerariae, *Pueraria lobata*); if Ge Gen is unavailable, use Shi Gao (Gypsum Fibrosum, *Gypsum*); if Bai Wei is missing, use Zhi Mu (Rhizoma Anemarrhenae, *Anemarrhena asphodeloides*); if Zhi Mu is unavailable, use Wei Rui (Rhizoma Polygonati Odorati, *Polygonatum odoratum*); if Wei Rui is lacking, use Zhi Shi; Shao Yao and Gan Cao can be omitted slightly. If no other herbs are available, using Da Huang alone is also highly effective.
