The *Yangsheng Fang Daoyin Fa* (Prescriptions for Nourishing Life and Guiding-Invigorating Methods) states: Whenever one feels excessively full in the abdomen after eating, and there is pre-existing stagnant Qi in the intestines, one should frequently, before and after meals, lift the knees with both hands, tilt the body to the left and right, thrust the abdomen forward, and rotate the waist. Rotate to the left thirty-seven times (3 x 7 = 21), and to the right twenty-eight times (2 x 7 = 14). Turn around and press the lumbar spine with maximum effort to eliminate stagnant Qi and undigested food in the Taicang (Stomach) and abdomen, treating Pi Bi (Spleen Obstruction), Chang Shou (Intestinal Contraction/Atrophy), and disharmony of the Zang-Fu organs, thereby relieving abdominal distension. Daily practice will gradually eliminate these symptoms.
It also states: Close the mouth and breathe slightly. Sit upright facing South (Wang Qi refers to the South), inhale through the nose, directing the Qi down to below the umbilicus, and exhale slightly through small mouth movements twelve times to remove accumulated stagnation. Lower the head and hold the breath twelve times to digest food and drink, making the body light and strong. Practicing this in winter prevents coldness.
It also states: Sit upright with the waist straightened, raise the right hand with the palm facing up, and support the left hypochondrium with the left hand. Inhale through the nose until the limit, for seven breaths. This eliminates Stomach Cold; if food is not digested, it will heal.
It also states: Sit upright with the waist straightened, raise the right hand to support the left hypochondrium, and inhale through the nose for seven breaths. This eliminates Cold in the Stomach and treats indigestion.
It also states: When practicing Qi circulation, lower the head and lean against a wall, holding the breath twelve times. Use intention to expel Phlegm-Fluid, allowing retained food to exit from the lower orifices, leading to spontaneous recovery. "Practicing Qi circulation" means keeping the body straight and the neck curved, guiding the Qi downward. Do this twelve times to cure retained food.
It also states: Circulate Qi like a walking goose, keep the body low, push the arms against the knees in a squatting position, bind oneself tightly with a rope, lower the head to the left, and hold the breath twelve times. This aids digestion, makes the body light, benefits spirit, prevents evil Qi from entering, and removes myriad pathogens. Another version states: Sit upright, look up at the sky, breathe in the essence of Heaven, resolve alcohol and food excess, exhale dozens of times, and within a short while, one will feel hungry and awake. Practicing this in summer brings a cooling sensation.
The *Yangsheng Fang Daoyin Fa* also states: If there is abdominal fullness and a feeling of overeating, sit upright with the waist straightened, inhale through the mouth dozens of times, and exhale fully when the mouth is full, considering smooth passage as the goal. If not smooth, repeat it. This can also treat abdominal discomfort caused by Cold Qi.
It also states: Sit upright with the waist straightened, inhale through the mouth dozens of times. This eliminates abdominal fullness, treats excessive intake of food and drink, and addresses abdominal pain caused by Cold and Heat.
The *Yangsheng Fang* states: In the eleventh month, do not consume dried meat that died naturally during the summer, as this disturbs the Kidney and predisposes one to Water Disease (Edema). Treatments such as Tangwen (Hot Compress), acupuncture, and stone therapy have separate standard prescriptions. The methods of nourishment and Daoyin are attached hereafter.
The *Yangsheng Fang Daoyin Fa* states: Practice Qi circulation like a frog, sit upright, shake both arms, and hold the breath twelve times. This treats Edema caused by Wu Lao (Five Excesses/Fatigues). It also states: When lying down, do not suspend the feet on high places for long periods, as this eventually leads to Kidney Water disease (Renal Edema).
