The *Shenghui Fang* treats the condition after pediatric measles and smallpox have fully erupted, recommending the administration of Dahuang San (Rhubarb Powder) to resolve residual toxins:
Chuan Dahuang (Rhizoma et Radix Rhei, chopped and lightly stir-fried), Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae), Heishen (Radix Scrophulariae, also known as Xuan Shen). Each in half liang.
Crush the above ingredients and sieve them coarsely to make a powder. Take one qian per dose, add one small cup of water, decoct until reduced to five fen, remove the dregs, and let cool to warm. Adjust the dosage according to the child's age and size. The record in *Wanquan Fang* is identical.
According to *Zhendou Lun*, if the toxin has fully erupted, it is appropriate to take Huangqin San (Scutellaria Powder) to resolve residual toxins:
Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae), Dahuang (Rhizoma et Radix Rhei), each in half liang; Shanzhizi Ren (Semen Gardeniae), three fen; Yuan Shen (Radix Scrophulariae), six qian.
Grind the above ingredients into coarse particles. Take one liang of the powder, add two sheng of water, decoct until reduced to eight he, remove the dregs. Administer according to the child's age and size. If vomiting occurs, stop it first.
According to *Zhendou Lun*, after the eruption of sores and toxins, taking Huangqin San resolves residual toxins, and vomiting has ceased. If there are still red lips with sores, sores in the lower body, and spontaneous diarrhea, it is appropriate to take Huanglian San (Coptis Powder):
Huanglian (Rhizoma Coptidis), Nongpuo (Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis, processed with heat), each in one liang; Chenpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae); Xingren (Semen Armeniacae Amarum, peeled and processed with heat); Zhishi (Fructus Aurantii Immaturus, stir-fried with bran); Mahuang (Herba Ephedrae, nodes removed); Gan Ge (Radix Puerariae Lobatae), each in half liang.
Chop the above ingredients into a powder. Take one liang of medicine per dose, add one sheng of water, decoct until reduced to half a sheng. Administer according to the child's age and size, three times a day. After diarrhea stops, observe the symptoms and adjust medication accordingly.
According to *Zhendou Lun*, after the eruption of sores and rashes, if there is irritability, panting, and difficulty in urination, it is appropriate to administer Dengxin Tang (Juncus Decoction) as the primary treatment:
Dengxin (Medulla Junci), one handful; Biejia (Carapax et Plastrum Testudinis, vinegar-processed until yellow), weigh two liang.
Chop the above ingredients into a powder. Take one liang per dose, add eight he of water, decoct to obtain four he. Administer warm according to the child's age and size.
Dong Ji's Ganlu Yin (Sweet Dew Drink) formula resolves stomach heat and residual heat causing high fever after the eruption of pediatric sores and rashes, gum swelling, toothache preventing chewing, hunger without desire to eat, irritability and heat, yellowing of the body and face, and sores. Nursing mothers may also take it. (See the section on "Sores and Rashes Attacking the Throat and Pain," identical to Qian Yi's Xijiao San.)
Dong Ji's Tiao Gan San (Liver-Calming Powder) defeats evil heat in the liver and dissipates residual toxins from macules and rashes. (See the section on "Sores and Rashes Erupted but Not Fully Erupted," identical to the Xijiao San in *Shenghui Fang*.)
*Liu Shi Jia Chuan* (Liu Family Tradition) treats infantile children with macules and sores where residual heat does not recede, using Huaihua San (Sophora Powder):
Huaihua (Flos Sophorae), Chixiaodou (Semen Phaseoli Angularis), each stir-fried, two qian; Shexiang (Moschus), a small amount, ground fine.
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take half a qian per dose, mix with honey water and swallow, at any time.
*Wang Shi Shou Ji* (Wang Family Manual Collection) treats the condition when smallpox is about to finish erupting, take this to prevent entry into the eyes which would cause them to recede naturally, Jingxin San (Purified Heart Powder):
Shetui (Exuvias Bombycatus), one strip, burned to ash; Zaofang (Fructus Gleditsiae Sinensis), ten stalks, burned to ash; Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Uralensis, raw, ground to powder), each half liang.
Grind finely. Take one qian per dose, mix with hot water and swallow; for children, take half a qian.
*Wang Shi Shou Ji* Niuhuang Shengjin San (Calculus Bovis and Gold-Generating Powder) resolves and treats sores and pustules.
Huzhang (Rhizoma Polygoni Cuspidati), Huashi (Talcum), each one liang; Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Uralensis), two qian five fen; Huoxiang (Herba Agastaches Rugosae), one qian (choose those with tall heads).
Grind into a fine powder. Take a level qian of powder per dose, add eight fen of water, decoct until reduced to three fen, remove dregs. Administer orally; it greatly benefits infants.
*Ji Shi Jia Chuan* (Ji Family Tradition) Niubang San (Arctium Powder) treats pediatric measles and smallpox that do not erupt, or residual heat remaining after medication induces eruption, thirst with drinking, and painful blood spots below, using this medicine to resolve toxins. (See the section on "Sores and Rashes Attacking the Throat and Pain." Identical to Qian Yi's Xiaodu San. Here, mix one qian with Bohe Tang (Mint Decoction). For those not yet erupted, use Zicao Tang.)
Zheng Yu, a physician from Changsha, transmitted the Huangqi San (Astragalus Powder) formula:
Huangqi (Radix Astragali Membranacei), Chaihu (Radix Bupleuri), Gan Ge (Radix Puerariae Lobatae), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Uralensis), each one qian half.
Grind into powder. Take half a qian per dose, add three leaves of Bohe (Mentha haplocalyx), five fen of water, decoct until reduced to three fen, drink in three sips, taken on an empty stomach.
