*Wai Tai Mi Yao* treats pediatric ear sores and the growth of malignant flesh in the ear canal. Formula for Xionghuang San (Realgar Powder):
Baima Kai oil extracted (one he), Hua Yanzhi (Flower Rouge, ten pieces).
The above two ingredients are crushed, sifted into fine powder, and ground thoroughly. Apply into the ear until full. Cure after one or two applications. (Note: The original formula lacks Baima Kai; the meaning of the unit "he" is unclear.)
*Ying Ru Shu* treats malignant sores in the ear and the growth of malignant flesh in the ears of children.
Xionghuang (Realgar) (six fen), Cengqing (Azurite) (two fen), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) (one fen).
Grind the above ingredients into powder. Wrap in cotton wool and insert into the ear canal. Effective when discharge flows out.
*Qianjin Yi Fang* treats Di Er (chronic suppurative otitis media with deep ear involvement).
Fanshi (Alum), Shiyan (Rock Salt, powdered).
First, fumigate the ear canal with a paper rope to dry the secretions. Then sprinkle salt powder evenly into the ear, followed by fanshi powder on top. Lie down immediately and do not rise for a while. Repeat twice daily.

Stir-fried Huma (Sesame seeds), crushed. Place in a kudzu cloth bag and use as a pillow under the affected ear; the insect will crawl out.
*Qianjin Fang*, another formula.
Pour Niu Lao (Cow butter/ghee) into the ear until full; the insect will crawl out, partially digested. If the insect has entered the stomach, consume one to two sheng of good ghee on an empty stomach; it will transform into yellow water and be excreted. If not fully expelled, take again. Highly effective with repeated use. (*Qianjin Yi Fang* records using cow milk, mixed with flour to bake cakes, which are then sat upon while hot; the insect emerges shortly.)
*Qianjin Fang* treats various insects entering the ear.
Take a pinch of Shujiao (Sichuan Pepper) powder, mix with half a sheng of vinegar, and pour into the ear. Walk twenty paces; the insect will emerge.
*Qianjin Fang*, another formula.
Take peach leaves, heat them by ironing, roll them up, and insert into the ear. The insect will emerge immediately.
*Qianjin Fang*, another formula.
Apply Che Zhi (Cart grease) to the ear opening; the insect will exit spontaneously. (*Zhou Hou Bei Ji Fang* uses this method for ears producing pus and blood.)
*Qianjin Fang*, another formula.
Pour Cong Ti (scallion mucus) into the ear; the insect will emerge. This method also treats deafness.
Roast pork until fragrant and cover the ear; the insect will emerge. *Tai Ping Sheng Hui Fang* also uses this for ants entering the ear.

*Qianjin Yi Fang*, another formula.
Wrap salt in Mu Ye (wood leaves, likely referring to mulberry or similar broad leaves), heat it, and press against the ear. Replace when cool. The insect emerges. (*Sheng Hui Fang* is identical, but uses Sang Ye (Mulberry Leaf)).
*Qianjin Yi Fang*, another formula.
Drip Jiang Zhi (Ginger juice) into the ear.
*Qianjin Yi Fang* treats centipedes entering the ear.
Pour oil into the ear.
*Qianjin Yi Fang*, another formula.

*Qianjin Yi Fang*, another formula.
Strike a copper bowl near the ear. (Ri Huazi notes: striking copper creates sound; *Sheng Hui Fang* strikes copper vessels; the intent is the same.)

*Ju Bao Fang* treats flying insects entering the ear.
Remove the core from Jinchai Shihu (Dendrobium nobile) to make a tube-like shape. Insert into one ear canal. Seal the surrounding area with wax. Burn the Shihu. When consumed, add more. These insects lay eggs inside the ear. Fumigating the right ear causes insects in the left ear to exit; fumigating the left works similarly.
