Previously, the full-body lamp-fire therapy was used for dispersing excess pathogens, and it was effective for all kinds of inexplicable strange conditions. However, if the condition involves chronic illness with body deficiency, sudden mental confusion, and unconsciousness, the previous lamp-fire therapy is not suitable; instead, "Life-Returning Moxa Fire" must be used to rescue the patient. This moxa fire can restore scattered primordial Yang (Yuan Yang), gather it into the Qi Sea (Qihai), consolidate the root, and prevent dispersion. The method is as follows: slice fresh ginger into thin pieces as thick as paper, about the size of a fingernail, and place them on the Weiliu point (at the end of the spinal column; Mingmen point is located between the lumbar and spinal vertebrae, directly opposite the navel anteriorly). Roll mugwort wool tightly into sizes like mung beans, place them on the ginger slices, and apply moxibustion. Each acupoint receives three moxa cones (zhuang). After finishing, place another ginger slice on the Yinjiao point below the navel and moxibustion as before. This moxa fire can be used not only for children but also for men and women suffering from wind-stroke, phlegm-obstruction, Qi-jue Yin-patterns, deficiency-cold collapse, and other critical conditions. It has the power to revive the dead, so do not underestimate it.
For infants suffering from evil invasion, external malevolent influences, or obstructions due to phlegm, fire, or wind leading to sudden death, immediately use full-body lamp-fire therapy to awaken them. If no one is available to perform this, pinch the Renzhong point (Renzhong, GV26) with the thumb. For mild cases, one pinch will cause crying and awakening; if there is no response, pinch Hegu (Hegu, LI4); if still no response, pinch Zhongchong (Zhongchong, PC9); if there is still no response, the condition is extremely severe. Use a moxa cone the size of a radish seed to moxibustion the Zhongchong point. Awakening occurs when the heat reaches the point. Zhongchong is the exit point of the Jueyin Pericardium meridian, which connects with the Shaoyin Heart. When this fire is lit, the heart will suddenly awaken; if there is absolutely no sensation to this fire, less than one in a hundred can be saved.
