Hoarseness; when wood is rotten, leaves must fall; when viscera are ruined, the voice must be accompanied by hiccups. At this stage, acupuncture and moxibustion are ineffective, and decoctions yield no results. This is what is meant. If vomiting occurs after eating, one should differentiate between cold and heat to treat accordingly.
If there was prior consumption of cold foods or exposure to cold pathogens, this is cold-type vomiting, for which Er Chen Li Zhong Tang (Two-Chen and Middle-Regulating Decoction) is appropriate. If there was no consumption of cold foods or exposure to cold pathogens, this is heat-type vomiting, for which Er Chen Yi Lian Tang (Two-Chen and One-Link Decoction) should be used to harmonize.
If vomiting and hiccups occur due to food obstruction, with sores in the throat causing pain and blockage leading to vomiting, Jia Wei Niu Niu Zi Tang (Modified Burdock Seed Decoction) is appropriate, and Kong Xian San (Control Phlegm Powder) should be applied externally by insufflation into the throat.
When the entire body is covered with dense pox, spirit is depleted, and both tonification and purgation fail, resulting in irritability and restlessness. Delirious speech, crying, and seeing ghosts indicate that the viscera are damaged and destiny has arrived.
Whenever pox are sparse, they naturally grow robust easily. In cases of density, one must strictly guard against the depletion of Qi and Blood. Failure to erupt fully is the crux of the pathology. Treat according to the methods described earlier. For deficiency, tonify; for excess, purge. Tonify Qi where Qi is deficient, nourish Blood where Blood is deficient. Adapt flexibly to circumstances, weighing each decision carefully. Do not rigidly adhere to a fixed formula, lest it cost lives. If tonification and purgation are ineffective, and symptoms worsen, or if there is incessant crying, groaning day and night, irritability, confusion, delirium, and hallucinations of ghosts, this indicates damage and ruin of the viscera, dispersion of the soul and spirit. What recourse remains!

Inhale one mouthful, spray lightly on the patient from back to foot, avoiding head and face. Let the patient constantly smell the Coriander aroma.
Wai Yu Ren Dong Tang (External Bath Golden Thread Vine Decoction): Treats inverted or black-sunken pox/rash, effective.
Ren Dong Teng (Lonicera Japonica Vine), commonly known as Jin Yin Hua (Honeysuckle). Use branches in spring/winter, leaves and branches in summer. Chop finely. Boil in a large pot of running water until reduced to 70%. Pour one-third into a bath basin, test temperature with hand until warm and moderate. First take internal decoctions, then bathe. Gradually add hot water until pox become robust and shiny. Frequency不限.
My commentary: Ren Dong Tang is indeed an excellent method for treating withered, inverted, non-erupting pox. However, in severe cold seasons, caution is warranted. I have seen cases where bathing in the wind during cold months led to convulsions and death before pox erupted, due to cold injury. My suggestion is to roll up bedding inside a tent, place a small basin of hot water inside, hold the child in the tent, lower the curtain to bathe, so that warmth steams internally, preventing cold invasion and complications. This method is beneficial without harm; one must know this.
