Heat from Gan (malnutrition syndrome) attacks upward to the eyes, resulting in Eye Gan. Symptoms include itching, dryness, redness, and ulceration of the eyes; swelling and pain of the eyelids; nebulae (cloudy opacities) appearing on the sclera (white part of the eye), gradually covering the pupil; tearing; photophobia (aversion to light); and inability to open the eyes. The most effective treatment is Shujie Xiegan San (Liver-Draining Powder for Dispersing and Resolving). If nebulae are present, Qingre Tuiyi Ling (Clearing Heat and Removing Nebulae Elixir) should be used. If the condition persists for a long time without improvement, nourishing methods should be employed, selecting either Xiaoyao San (Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) or Yanggan San (Sheep Liver Powder).
[Note] Eye Gan is caused by heat from Gan attacking the eyes. Therefore, upon onset, symptoms include eye itching, dryness, redness, and ulceration; swelling and pain of the eyelids; nebulae on the sclera gradually obscuring vision; frequent tearing; and photophobia with closed eyes. Initially, use Xiegan San (Liver-Draining Powder) to disperse and resolve the pathogen, followed by Qingre Tuiyi Tang (Clearing Heat and Removing Nebulae Decoction) to eliminate the nebulae. If the eye condition does not heal after a long period, the treatment method should shift to regulating and tonifying using Xiaoyao San (Free and Easy Wanderer Powder), or primarily using Yanggan San (Sheep Liver Powder).

(Note: Specific ingredients were not listed in the original text, only the formula name.)
Yanggan San (Sheep Liver Powder)
Ingredients: Qingyanggan (Capra Hircus Liver, one whole, remove fascia, slice thinly like leek leaves), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, stir-fried with soil), Gafen (Concha Meretricis et Cyclinae). (All in equal proportions).
Preparation and Usage: Grind all ingredients into a fine powder and mix evenly. Place a layer of powder (thickness of a coin) on a lotus leaf, then a layer of sheep liver, repeating this process. Wrap securely, then encase in new green cloth and steam until cooked. Allow the child to eat. If the child refuses to eat, or during summer months when spoilage is a concern, dry the mixture and grind into powder. Take morning and evening mixed with warm water. Prepare again after consumption, continuing until satisfactory results are achieved. If there is excess heat, reduce the amount of Renshen (Ginseng).
