Commonly known as "Suodù" (Lock Belly), this condition is caused by heat received in the womb, leading to an accumulation of heat-toxins that knot at the anus, causing blockage and loss of lubrication. If there is no bowel movement by the third day, a woman should immediately rinse her mouth with warm water and perform cupping-like suction on seven areas of the infant: the anterior chest, back, below the umbilicus, and palms/soles of hands and feet, repeating this four or five times. Subsequently, dissolve half a qian (approx. 1.5g) of Fenqing (Calomel, *Hydrargyri Chloridum*) with a small amount of honey in warm water, and administer small amounts frequently until defecation occurs. If still blocked, it indicates imperforate anus (internal closure of the anal canal); one must use an object to pierce and open it. A gold hairpin is best, followed by a jade hairpin. It should be inserted about two cun deep, and then Suhe Xiang Wan (Styrax Pill) is inserted into the hole; relief is achieved when feces are expelled. If abdominal distension occurs, inability to nurse or eat, and moaning sounds persist until the seventh day after birth, survival is unlikely. Tian's treatment method involves first piercing the anus with a hard scallion stalk. If stool does not pass, subsequently administer Zhusha Wan (Cinnabar Pill) sent down with Niuhuang San (Calculus Bovis Powder, see formula for asthma/wheezing), which will naturally take effect within one shichen (two hours).
For infants born with severe abdominal distension resembling impending rupture and blockage of both large and small bowels, the aforementioned suction method is applied to seven areas: anterior chest, back, palms/soles, and below the umbilicus. The procedure continues until the skin turns red, after which patency usually returns spontaneously.
The *Qianjin Fang* states: Six or seven days after birth, as the infant's blood and qi consolidate into flesh, the mouth, tongue, throat, and inner cheeks become clear. If there is a substance in the throat or on the tongue resembling a reed husk holding water, or if the uvula shows swelling/protrusion, wrap silk around a long needle, leaving the blade tip exposed to the size of a millet grain, and puncture it to release the qi and drain blue-yellow-red bloody fluid. Stop after one puncture and observe for a day. If not resolved, puncture again the next day. No more than three punctures are needed for complete resolution. Minor remaining issues also resolve after three punctures. Such conditions located under the tongue are called "Chong She" (Double Tongue); those in the inner cheeks and upper palate are called "Chong E" (Double Palate); those on the gums are called "Cheng Yin" (Double Gums). All require draining of bloody fluid. After puncturing, wash and wipe with salt water solution, and immediately apply Rusheng San or Yizi San to the area.
Rusheng San (Miracle-Resembling Powder)
Qianshuang (Lead Frost, *Plumbii Carbonas*), Zhen Niuhuang (Real Calculus Bovis, *Bovis Calculus*), Taiyin Xuanjingshi (Taiyin Crystal Stone, *Selenitum*), Zhusha (Cinnabaris, processed by water levigation and dried).
These four ingredients are each ground to an extremely fine powder, weighed accurately at 2.5 qian each, mixed uniformly, and 0.5 qian of Bailongnao (White Borneol, *Borneolum Syntheticum*) is added and ground again until uniform. Each time, take a yizi (approx. 0.3-0.5g) to half a qian, sprinkle only into the infant's mouth, and use occasionally.
Yizi San (One-Yizi Powder)
Zhusha (Cinnabaris), Pengsha (Borax, *Borax*), Longnao (Borneol, *Borneolum*), Puxiao (Niter, *Natrii Sulfas*).
Each ingredient is present in the specified amounts (Pengsha and Zhusha: half a qian each; Longnao and Puxiao: one yizi each). Grind all into an extremely fine powder. Mix with a small amount of honey, dip a goose feather quill into the mixture, and brush inside the mouth. Swallowing is harmless.
