Another formula from the sea region:
In the past, an official went to Yangzhou Prefecture to take up his post. His eyes were dim, and multiple treatments were ineffective. A Daoist monk occasionally passed on an immortal formula. It required selecting the Winter Solstice day to pick one hundred and forty mulberry leaves. If there were no leaves on the tree, picking those fallen on the ground was also good. Following the dates listed below, use ten leaves daily with one bowl of water. Decoct until eight-tenths remain. Clarify and wash with warm liquid. On the days of washing the eyes, abstain from alcohol and meat, and avoid sexual intercourse. If these prohibitions are not observed, it will be ineffective. Washing for one year results in eyes as clear as a child's. This method has proven effective repeatedly. Subsequently, this formula was spread everywhere. Those suffering from eye diseases still wait for the Winter Solstice to pick mulberry leaves and prepare them according to the previous method. It saved hundreds or thousands of people. Even a ninety-year-old washed his eyes for a year and regained vision like a child. Printing and distributing this is a great merit accumulating immense hidden virtue.
