Xuanfu Flower Decoction (from *Jin Gui Yao Lue*): Treats deficiency wind invading the Bladder channel. It causes metrorrhagia and metrostaxis with continuous bleeding of bright red blood.
Ingredients: Inula Flower (*Inulae Flos*, Xuanshuhua) [3 qian], Scallion (*Allii Fistulosi Caulis*, Cong) [5 stems], Xinjiang (freshly dyed silk, used raw, approx. 1 chi).
The above three ingredients are decocted in water and taken in one dose. Inula Flower has a specific property to direct Qi downward. Combined with Scallion, it can dissipate nodules and dispel wind. Assisted by silkworm cocoon silk which specifically tonifies the Bladder, and enhanced by the red color from Red Blue Grass dye, this formula deeply embodies the principle of dissipating Qi stagnation as stated in the *Shennong Bencao Jing*.
Fanshi Pill (from *Jin Gui Yao Lue*): Treats irregular menstruation in women and leukorrhea (white vaginal discharge).
Ingredients: Alum (*Alumen*, Fanshi) [select green variety, calcined, 3 qian], Almond Seed (*Prunus Armeniacae Semen*, Xingren) [1 qian].
The above two ingredients are made into pills with honey, sized like a jujube pit, and inserted into the vagina.
Tugua Gen Powder (from *Jin Gui Yao Lue*): Treats menstrual obstruction due to blood stasis accumulation, or menstruation occurring twice a month, as well as prolapse and swelling of the vulva.
Ingredients: Trichosanthes Root (*Trichosanthis Radix*, Tugua Gen), Peony Root (*Paeoniae Radix*, Shaoyao), Cinnamon Twig (*Cinnamomi Ramulus*, Rougui), Leech (*Hirudo*, Shuizhi - note: text says 'Chong', likely referring to insect medicine for stasis, often interpreted as Leech or similar in context of stasis, but literally 'worm/insect'. Given context of 'Tu Gua Gen San' in standard texts, it usually includes Chong/Earthworm or similar. Here translated as Insect Medicine for Stasis).
The above four ingredients are ground into powder and taken with wine, one Fang Cun Bi per dose, three times daily. Tugua Gen is the root of the cucumber. It is rarely stocked in pharmacies; Gualou Root (*Trichosanthis Radix*) is often used as a substitute. According to the *Shennong Bencao Jing*, although Gualou Root shares the bitter and cold nature, it lacks the efficacy of dispersing blood stasis and unblocking amenorrhea. While this treatment is specific, its power is slow. Therefore, Cinnamon is added to assist it, and Peony to restrain it, similar to the use of Xinjiang in Xuanfu Flower Decoction.
Guifu Pill: Treats Qi disorder, where the menstrual cycle is either early or late.
Ingredients: Angelica Sinensis Root (*Angelicae Sinensis Radix*, Danggui) [4 liang], Cyperi Rhizoma (*Cyperi Rhizoma*, Xiangfu) [8 liang, soaked in urine of young boys until saturated, dried, then processed with wine, vinegar, salt, and ginger].

If Blood deficiency, add Prepared Rehmannia Root (*Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata*, Shudi) [8 liang]. If deficiency-cold, add Cinnamon Twig (*Cinnamomi Ramulus*, Guizhi) and Aconite Root (*Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata*, Fuzi) [1 liang each]. If leukorrhea has a fishy odor, add Evodia Fruit (*Evodiae Fructus*, Wuzhuyu) and Qishen Mugwort (*Artemisiae Argyi Folium*, Qi Ai) [1 liang each]. If cold pain below the navel, add Cinnamon Twig, Aconite Root, and Agarwood (*Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum*, Chenxiang) [1 liang each], and Clove (*Syzygii Flos*, Dingxiang) [3 qian]. If lower abdominal pain precedes menstruation, or if the blood is dark purple and clotted, add Vinegar-processed Curcuma Zedoaria Rhizome (*Curcumae Zedoariae Rhizoma*, Ezhu) [2 liang] and Agarwood [1 liang]. If there is deficiency-pain in the lower abdomen after menstruation, add Ginseng (*Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma*, Renshen), [missing character, likely Peony or similar], and Donkey-hide Gelatin (*Asini Corii Colla*, Ejiao) [4 liang each], and Qishen Mugwort [2 liang]. If menstrual flow is pale, add Ginger (*Zingiberis Rhizoma*, Jiang) and Cinnamon Twig [2 liang each], and Ginseng [4 liang].

Generally stir-fried with vinegar and made into powder. Take 3 qian per dose on an empty stomach, mixed with brown sugar water.
Luhui Pill: Treats liver-related malnutrition (gan syndrome) causing mouth and tongue ulcers, gum rot, body-wide sores, and also treats female amenorrhea due to heat binding, with a sensation of mass rushing upward causing blockage and pain.
Ingredients: Aloe (*Aloe*, Luhui), Indigo Naturalis (*Indigo Naturalis*, Qingdai), Cinnabar (*Cinnabaris*, Zhusha) (separately ground, wet-levigated, 3 qian each), Musk (*Moschus*, Shexiang) [1 qian], Large Soap Pod (*Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus*, Da Zaojia) [1 liang, skin and seeds removed], Dried Toad (*Bufo Skin*, Ganchan) [1 liang, roasted together with soap pod until carbonized but retaining properties].
Ground into fine powder, formed into pills with steamed bread paste, sized like hemp seeds. Take 30-50 pills per dose on an empty stomach with rice water.
Fangfeng Pill: Treats wind entering the uterus (Bao Men), causing metrorrhagia and metrostaxis with pale blood.
Ingredients: Saposhnikovia Root (*Saposhnikoviae Radix*, Fangfeng) (do not expose to fire).
Ground into powder, formed into pills sized like wutong seeds with vinegar. Take 2.5 qian on an empty stomach with scallion white decoction.

Decoct in water, take three times daily.
Qianjin Xiao Niujiao Sai San (Thousand Horn Cow-Horn Hoof Powder): Treats leukorrhea and the five types of metrorrhagia, a condition of exterior excess and interior deficiency.
Ingredients: Cow-Horn Hoof (*Bovis Cornu et Ungula*, Niujiao Sai) [one piece, burned until red], Deer Antler (*Cervi Cornu Deglandatum*, Lurong), Hematite (*Haematitum*, Yuyuliang), Angelica Sinensis Root (*Angelicae Sinensis Radix*, Danggui), Dried Ginger (*Zingiberis Rhizoma*, Ganjiang), Dipsacus Root (*Dipsaci Radix*, Xuduan) [2 liang each], Donkey-hide Gelatin (*Asini Corii Colla*, Ejiao) [3 liang], Black Bone [likely refers to a specific bone ingredient or typo for another item, kept as Black Bone], Dragon Bone (*Dinosauria Os Fossile*, Longgu) [1 liang each], Adzuki Bean (*Vigna Angularis Semen*, Chixiaodou) [6 he].

Ground into powder. Take 2.5 qian per dose, decocted in wine with a little brown sugar, taken with the dregs. Take again after a short while. For abdominal pain due to stasis with excessive menstrual flow and weak Yuan Qi where drug efficacy fails, mix with 2-3 qian of Ginseng (*Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma*, Renshen) to enhance the expulsion of stasis.

The above eighteen ingredients are chopped. Decoct in 5 sheng of clear wine and 5 sheng of water to obtain 3 sheng. Divide into four doses: three during the day and one at night. Each dose is separated by three hours. Cover with blankets to induce slight sweating. If no sweat occurs, use a hot stove in winter. This will expel accumulated blood and cold red pus resembling adzuki bean juice. This is caused by evil substances in the uterus. It may also cause umbilical pain on cloudy days or irregular menstruation due to cold blood preventing conception. If expelled thoroughly and the patient is too weak to continue, stop after 2-3 doses. If severe distress occurs, eat cold vinegar-rice porridge to stop it. However, fear that evil substances are not fully expelled and drug efficacy is insufficient. If endurance allows, finishing the course is best. (If leeches are unavailable, use pangolin scales coated with raw lacquer and roasted crisp as a substitute).
Baiwei Wan (Baiwei Pill, from *Qian Jin Fang*): Treats irregular menstruation, amenorrhea, and infertility.

Use 4 liang of Cistanche Stem (*Cistanches Herba*, Rongrong), washed, peeled, cut open, removing the yellow membrane inside, taking only 2 liang of pure material. Boil in good wine until soft, mash into paste, mix with refined honey, and form pills sized like wutong seeds. Take 50-70 pills on an empty stomach with warm wine, followed by delicious food to settle the medicine. For thin semen, add Fish Maw Gelatin (*Ichthyosbladdera Colla*, Biaojiao) [6 liang]. This formula does not use Cinnamon or Aconite to boost fire and Yang, but purely uses ingredients to warm and nourish Essence and Blood. It uniquely uses Agarwood and Alpinia to stimulate Qi movement, and Toosendan to restrain Yang, guiding Yang herbs to the Lower Burner. This deeply embodies the principles of promoting fertility.
Qianjin Zhongzi Dan (Thousand Seedling Dan): Taking this formula promotes fertility. It also treats deficiency損, nocturnal emissions, and white turbid discharge.
Ingredients: Spina Centradiae Semen (*Spinaciae Semen*, Shayuan Jili) (pure powder, 4 liang, decocted in one bowl of water to make paste), Lotus Stamen (*Nelumbinis Stamien*, Lianxu) (pure powder, 4 liang), Raspberry (*Rubiae Fructus*, Fupenzi) (de-seeded, pure, 2 liang), Dogwood Fruit (*Corni Fructus*, Shanzhuyu Rou) (pure, 3 liang), Euryale Seed (*Euryales Semen*, Qianshi) (pure, 4 liang), Dragon Bone (*Dinosauria Os Fossile*, Longgu*) (calcined, levigated, 5 qian).

Mix the five herb powders first with the Centradiae paste into a block, then add the refined honey and pound for a thousand strikes. Form into pea-sized pills. Take 30 pills on an empty stomach with salt water. Abstain from sexual intercourse for 20 days. This formula prolongs life, benefits health, and promotes fertility.
Wuzi Yanzong Wan (Five Seeds Deriving the Ancestry Pill): This formula adds Essence and tonifies Marrow, unblocks and benefits Kidney Qi. It balances the Lower Burner regardless of deficiency/excess or cold/heat.
Ingredients: Goji Berry (*Lycii Fructus*, Gouqizi), Dodder Seed (*Cuscutae Semen*, Tusizi) (wine-steamed, mashed into cakes, 8 liang each), Northern Schisandra Berry (*Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus*, Bei Wuweizi) [1 liang], Raspberry (*Rubiae Fructus*, Fupenzi) (wine-washed, eyes removed, 4 liang), Plantago Seed (*Plantaginis Semen*, Cheqian Zi) (fried, 2 liang).

Grind into powder. Use dried Yam powder mixed with paste instead of honey to form pills. Take 3-4 qian on an empty stomach with salt water, and 2 qian before bed with warm wine. "Lianzhen" means refining Essence to make it pure. The formula uses Betel Nut to assist Phellodendron and Atractylodes to cleanse inherent damp-heat, preventing the aromatic and antler herbs from aggravating turbid dampness. Thus, advanced age need not hinder fertility.

Refined white honey is used to form pills sized like wutong seeds. Take 50-70 pills on an empty stomach with warm wine. Stop taking after 2-3 months of pregnancy. Avoid horse and beef meat to prevent difficult labor.
This formula was modified by Zheng Xin. Compared to popular versions, it reduces Aconite by 4 liang, Asarum by 3 liang, and Poria by 2 liang. It removes Dried Ginger and adds Angelica Sinensis Root to harmonize Yang herbs, preventing failure of Yang transformation and avoiding dark menstrual blood and fetal loss. Gentian, Bitter Orange, and Pinellia resolve phlegm accumulation; Sand Ginseng, Achyranthes, and Baiwei clear turbid leukorrhea. This warms the uterus, allowing Yang to act and Yin to transform, leading to natural conception.
Zouxue Wan (Formulary of the Standard Pharmacy): Treats uterine blood sea deficiency-cold, resulting in various diseases, Qi and Blood imbalance, alternating chills and fever, excessive bleeding, prolonged amenorrhea, metrorrhagia, red and white leukorrhea, abdominal masses, stabbing pain, tightness and fullness in the lower abdomen, distending pain in hypochondrium, heavy waist and weak legs, sallow complexion, weakness, reduced appetite, progressing to consumption, irregular menstruation, frequent miscarriage, and all conditions before and after childbirth.
Ingredients: Prepared Rehmannia Root (*Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata*, Shudi), Chrysanthemum Flower (*Chrysanthemi Flos*, Ganju*) (remove heart, calyx, stem), Fennel Fruit (*Foeniculi Fructus*, Huixiang*) (de-seeded), Angelica Sinensis Root Body (*Angelicae Sinensis Radix*, Danggui Shen*), Corydalis Rhizome (*Corydalidis Rhizoma*, Yanhusuo*) (fried), Red Peony Root (*Paeoniae Radix Rubra*, Chi Shaoyao*), Cinnamon Heart (*Cinnamomi Ramulus*, Guixin*), Cattail Pollen (*Typhae Pollen*, Puhuang*) (pure powder, roasted), Curcuma Zedoaria Rhizome (*Curcumae Zedoariae Rhizoma*, Pengzhu*), Achyranthes Root (*Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix*, Niuxi*), Cyperi Rhizoma (*Cyperi Rhizoma*, Xiangfu*) (fried, hairs removed, soaked in wine for 3 days, roasted, 3 liang each).
The above eleven ingredients are ground into powder. Use 1 sheng of fine black beans, boiled in vinegar until dry, then ground. Add 3 bowls of rice vinegar, boil down to 2 bowls to make a paste for forming pills sized like wutong seeds. Take 20 pills with warm wine or vinegar water. For Qi and Blood stabbing pain, use baked ginger water. For mass cramping pain, use Angelica wine. Avoid duck meat and sheep blood. The name "Zouxue" implies using vinegar's acidity to guide herbs to the uterus to consolidate Essence. Uterine deficiency-cold stems from Liver Yang deficiency failing to disperse turbid Yin, leaving the uterus impure. An impure uterus cannot conceive. Thus, the formula focuses on eliminating old and generating new. Heat-clearing and stasis-dispersing agents outweigh Tonics like Angelica and Rehmannia to ensure uterine harmony and vitality. Most female disorders stem from Qi/Blood imbalance and uterine impurity. The brilliance lies in vinegar-boiled black beans: acid astringes Blood preventing leakage; pungent herbs disperse stasis preventing accumulation. To address internal cold potentially causing floating deficient Yang, Chrysanthemum clears upper deficient Yang. Cold accumulation in the uterus causing heat in channels requires Achyranthes and Red Peony to clear channel heat, similar to the logic in Qingui Wan. Skilled physicians understand this depth. Many succeed with this formula because it is purely Blood-tonifying, which may lead to Yin excess. Adding Ginseng to balance Yang and promote Qi movement is advisable. Among fertility formulas, Baozhen Wan is for men, Qingui Wan for women. Efficacy varies due to constitutional differences. For male Kidney Yang deficiency or female Uterine Blood Sea deficiency-cold, these are specific. For male phlegm-damp/impure Essence or female stasis/uterine impurity, warming alone is insufficient. Combine with Lianzhen Wan (Betel Nut, Atractylodes, Toosendan) to drain dampness and Zouxue Wan (Curcuma, Achyranthes, Chrysanthemum) to clear stasis-heat. Physicians should consider this.
