In early February, the body was feverish, but now has cooled. There is coughing with profuse phlegm, cold sweat, yellow tongue coating, dry mouth, loose stools, and shortness of breath. The pulse is wiry and rapid; this belongs to Wind-Warmth (Wind-Heat pathogenic factor), which will transform into fire if prolonged.

Itchy and dry throat leading to vomiting, occasionally with thin fluid that is not sour. Head meridians are distended and painful, abdomen is full. The right hand pulse is harmonious, while the left hand pulse has a rapid tendency. The tongue coating is yellow. Generally, this is a disease caused by Damp-Heat.

After the Wind pathogen is resolved, residual heat remains. The pulse is slightly wiry and stagnant, the tongue coating is yellow, there is dry cough with empty retching, and sweating. Sweet-Cold method is proposed to resolve residual pathogens.
Glehniae Radix (6 qian), Ophiopogonis Radix (3 qian), Raw Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (6 qian), Raw Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (1.5 qian), Platycodonis Radix (1.5 qian), Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus (3 qian), Lycii Cortex (3 qian), Exocarpium Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Rubrum (8 fen), Raw Hordeolum Germinatum (4 qian), Scrophulariae Radix (3 qian), Bamboo Concretion (1 pill).
Damp Malaria has responded well to warming and drying Spleen meridian treatments. Although malaria symptoms include thirst, warming methods should still be used, especially since the tongue coating is yellow and slippery, and the pulse is not yet slippery and smooth. According to principle, the Middle Jiao should still be warmed and dried, combined with unblocking Yang.
Japanese Ginseng Radix (1.5 qian), Scorched Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (3 qian), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (3 qian), Tangerine Peel (8 fen), Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex (1 qian), Alum-processed Pinellia Rhizome (3 qian), Cinnamon Twig (1 qian), Roasted Ginger Charcoal (1 qian), Stir-fried Hordeolum Germinatum (5 qian), Amomum Fruit (decocted together, 8 fen), Costi Rhizome (8 fen), Fresh Ginger (2 slices), Red Date (5 pieces).
The tongue coating is white, the tongue body is fat, the Stomach appetite is not open, stools are easily loose, and sometimes there is a burning sensation in the stomach. The pulse is short and choppy. Generally, this indicates much Damp-Phlegm in the Spleen and Stomach. Phlegm-resolving and Spleen-benefiting methods are proposed.
Scorched Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (3 qian), Poria (3 qian), Processed Pinellia Rhizome (3 qian), Tangerine Peel (8 fen), Raw Alpinia Oxyphylla Fruit (1.5 qian), Stir-fried Hordeolum Germinatum (5 qian), Stir-fried Coix Seed (6 qian), Costi Rhizome (1 qian), Scorched Gardeniae Fructus (3 qian), Forsythiae Fructum (3 qian), Dry Lotus Leaf (1 corner).
Today, both hands' pulses are larger and stronger than before. The right pulse is slippery and smooth, but the left pulse is still choppy. The left hand corresponds to Blood; a choppy pulse indicates Blood deficiency. Another prescription targeting the Liver and Kidney Blood levels is proposed.

Having caught a cold for a long time, with sticky phlegm making sounds in the throat and a wiry pulse, the Sweet-Cold method should be used.
Apricot Kernel (3 qian), Aristolochiae Fructus (3 qian), Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus (3 qian), Platycodonis Radix (2 qian), Raw Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (1.5 qian), Ophiopogonis Radix (3 qian), Tangerine Peel (8 fen), Mori Folium (1.5 qian), Forsythiae Fructum (3 qian), Raw Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (6 qian), Bamboo Leaf (30 pieces).
For women, the Liver is the foundation of the congenital constitution. If Liver Blood is sufficient, there will naturally be no pregnancy or childbirth diseases. Those prone to miscarriage either lack Qi to secure the fetus or belong to Liver deficiency, causing unstable fetal origin. After this case of miscarriage, the right hand pulse has risen, while the left is slightly small, with a slight rapid tendency. This indicates a constitution of Liver deficiency generating heat. A method to soften and benefit the Liver is proposed.
Stir-fried White Peony Root (3 qian), Large Raw Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (6 qian), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Root portion) (3 qian), Charred Lycii Fructus (3 qian), True Donkey-hide Gelatin (3 qian, melted and taken with liquid), Teasel Root (3 qian), Huai Yam (4 qian), Xinhui Tangerine Peel (8 fen), Jian Shihu (3 qian), Lotus Leaf (1 corner).
Pathogenic Heat from Summerheat has lasted twenty-two days. Snowflake-like cracks on the tongue and wiry-large pulses in all six positions indicate Yin deficiency due to prolonged illness. Purging methods are absolutely contraindicated. However, using Rhubarb damaged the Spleen Qi. According to texts, Yin must be rescued quickly. Now, hiccups appear, indicating Liver Qi movement as well. The condition is extremely difficult. A rescue method is tentatively proposed; please advise if appropriate.
Charred Raw Rehmanniae Radix (6 qian), Stir-fried White Peony Root (3 qian), Raw Coix Seed (5 qian), Clear Honey-fried Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (3 qian), Stir-fried Ophiopogonis Radix (1.5 qian), Stir-fried Huai Yam (5 qian), Amomum Fruit (8 fen, decocted together), Tangerine Peel (8 fen), Lycii Cortex (4 qian), Inula Flower (3 qian, wrapped for decoction). This is a modification of Fumai Tang (Restore Pulse Decoction), serving as a rescue method.
Only the right Guan position pulse has risen; other pulses lack essence and length. Generally, post-illness recovery is incomplete. Although winter pulses should be quiet and small, it is ultimately due to Blood failing to fill the vessels. A method to simultaneously benefit Liver and Spleen is proposed.
Ginseng Radix (8 fen), Poria (3 qian), Stir-fried Ziziphi Spinosae Semen (3 qian), Charred Raw Rehmanniae Radix (6 qian), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (3 qian), Tangerine Peel (8 fen), Costi Rhizome (1 qian), Clear Honey-fried Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (1.5 qian), Charred Polygalae Radix (8 fen), Scorched Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (3 qian), Longan Aril (14 pieces), Fresh Ginger (2 slices), Red Date (7 pieces).
Exterior Cold has been resolved, but coughing has increased, and phlegm is hard to expectorate. The Sweet-Cold method should be used.
Apricot Kernel (3 qian), Ophiopogonis Radix (3 qian), Raw Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (1.5 qian), Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus (3 qian), Platycodonis Radix (2 qian), Antelope Horn (1.5 qian, decocted first), Tangerine Peel (8 fen), Mori Folium (1.5 qian), Aurantii Fructus Immaturus (1.5 qian), Gardeniae Fructus (3 qian), Bamboo Leaf (30 pieces).
After malaria subsided, alternating chills and fever every other day remain distinct, with very mild spontaneous sweating. Stomach appetite is not very strong, tongue is clean but slightly yellow, mouth is slightly thirsty, and there is a sensation of hunger pangs in the abdomen. This indicates Yuan Qi deficiency with light pathogen. Given the patient's obesity implies much Damp-Phlegm, and prolonged malaria causes Yin deficiency, a Meridian-warming method is proposed to intercept the malaria.
Processed Polygoni Multiflori Caulis (6 qian), Prepared Turtle Carapace (4 qian), Roasted Ginger Charcoal (8 fen), Processed Pinellia Paste (3 qian), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (3 qian), Stir-fried Hordeolum Germinatum (4 qian), Xinhui Tangerine Peel (8 fen), Artemisiae Annuae Herba Stem (1.5 qian), Poria with Hostwood (3 qian), Scorched Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix (3 qian), Fresh Ginger (2 slices), Red Date (7 pieces).
Chills have ceased, coughing has improved, phlegm is present, tongue coating is clean, but Stomach appetite is not open. The pulse is wiry and small. The Sweet-Cold method should be used.

Body temperature has normalized, but right hypochondriac pain persists. Cough produces blood-streaked sputum. Today, Lung Yin should be treated.
Raw Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (6 qian), Scrophulariae Radix (5 qian), Ophiopogonis Radix (3 qian), Camellia Flower (3 qian), Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus (3 qian), Stir-fried Moutan Cortex (3 qian), Mori Folium (1.5 qian), Antelope Horn (2 qian, decocted first), Platycodonis Radix (2 qian), Platycladi Cacumen (3 qian), Tangerine Peel (8 fen), Bamboo Leaf (40 pieces).
Right hand pulse is harmonious; left hand pulse is floating and large, with deficiency at Guan and Chi positions. Heart and abdominal pain during defecation, difficult stool, insomnia, and shortness of breath indicate Liver Heat. The method of Gengyi Wan (Change Clothes Pill) should be used.
Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix (4 qian), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (3 qian), Biota Seed (4 qian), Aloe (3 qian), Washed Cinnabar (8 fen, taken with liquid), Raw Rehmanniae Radix (5 qian), Moutan Cortex (3 qian), Gardeniae Fructus (3 qian), Raw White Peony Root (3 qian), Juncus Effusus (30 cun).
Upper Jiao Lung Distension has responded to medication. Continue with Upper Jiao methods. However, having suffered for one year makes this the most difficult to cure. Dietary restrictions are essential.

Head distension, back feeling cold, waist and rib pain during coughing, chest and diaphragm stuffiness with nausea. The pulse is floating and faint. The middle section of the right hand pulse is slightly rapid and choppy. Tongue coating is clean. This belongs to Lung pathogen.
Perilla Leaf (5.5 qian), White Cardamom Seed (1 fen, ground and taken with liquid), Mori Folium (1.5 qian), Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus (3 qian), Apricot Kernel (3 qian), Platycodonis Radix (2 qian), Aurantii Fructus Immaturus (1.5 qian), Trichosanthis Pericarpium (3 qian), Forsythiae Fructum (3 qian), Tangerine Peel (8 fen), Bamboo Leaf (24 pieces).
Pure Heat syndrome, sweating, thirst, yellow and dry tongue coating, lower back pain, heavy legs, dizziness. Left hand pulse is clean, deficient, small, and rapid. Right hand floating part is similar. Middle and deep positions are stagnant and large. This belongs to Dan Malaria (Hot Malaria), where Summerheat-Damp-Heat-Phlegm resides in the Lung. Baihu Tang (White Tiger Decoction) is indicated.
Raw Gypsum Fibrosum (8 qian), Anemarrhenae Rhizoma (3 qian), Raw Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (8 fen), Raw Coix Seed (8 qian), Alum-processed Pinellia Rhizome (3 qian), Tangerine Peel (8 fen), Poria (3 qian), Liuyi San (Six-to-One Powder) (3 qian), Forsythiae Fructum (3 qian), Bitter Apricot Kernel (3 qian), Cinnamon Twig (8 fen), White Glutinous Rice (3 qian).
After using Baihu Tang for Dan Malaria, symptoms have decreased. Yellow tongue coating has receded but not cleared. Dizziness, heavy waist and feet have gone. Pulse has become deficient and small, though still rapid. Stagnation in middle and deep positions has been removed. Stools are loose, urine is long. Thirst is gone, replaced by dryness. A method to cool the Lung and promote urination is proposed.
Raw Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (5 qian), Forsythiae Fructum (3 qian), Raw Coix Seed (8 qian), Poria (3 qian), Liuyi San (Six-to-One Powder) (3 qian), Scorched Gardeniae Fructus (3 qian), Tectona Grandis Stem (1.5 qian), Tangerine Peel (8 fen), Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus (3 qian), Antelope Horn (1.5 qian, decocted first), Bamboo Leaf (30 pieces).
Middle-aged frequent toothache is a sign of impending collapse, generally due to Liver Blood deficiency. Deficiency generates Wind. Pain in the tendons below the ear is Liver Wind. Since malaria has stopped for a long time and appetite is good, with bitter taste and yellow tongue coating, and given the constitution is prone to Damp-Phlegm, a method to cool Blood and extinguish Wind, combined with resolving Phlegm, is proposed.
