Sweating method has been used; it should not be applied again. Moreover, dizziness (Xuant) and heaviness/pain in the feet have improved, and the pulse is rapid and smooth. It is proposed to continue clearing Lung heat.
*Prunus armeniaca* Seed (San Qian), *Forsythia suspensa* Fruit (San Qian), *Platycodon grandiflorus* Root (Yi Qian Ban), Raw *Coix lacryma-jobi* Seed (Ba Qian), Alum-processed *Pinellia ternata* Tuber (Er Qian), *Citrus reticulata* Peel (Ba Fen)

The right pulse is now smooth, forceful, and spirited; the left Cun position is similar. Only the left Guan position remains choppy. This is generally due to deficiency of Liver blood. Next, nourish Liver blood and simultaneously nourish the Heart collaterals.
Prepared *Rehmannia glutinosa* Root (Ba Qian), *Angelica sinensis* Root (San Qian), Aged Tortoise Shell Glue (San Qian, melted and taken with decoction), True Donkey-hide Gelatin (San Qian, melted and taken with decoction), Huai *Dioscorea opposita* Rhizome (Si Qian)
*Silybum marianum* (Chuan Xuduan) (San Qian), Stir-fried *Eucommia ulmoides* Bark (San Qian), *Biota orientalis* Seed (San Qian), Processed *Cibotium barometz* Rhizome (San Qian), Jian *Dendrobium nobile* Stem (San Qian), Xinhui *Citrus reticulata* Peel (Ba Fen)
For years, there has been alternating diarrhea and constipation. Now, Liver Yang invading the Stomach causes vomiting. Using Yu Jia Yan's method of advancing and retreating led to recovery. However, diarrhea still presents with rumbling without pain. Observing holistically from the perspective of Liver disease, this belongs to Wind Wood overacting on Spleen, but with differences due to predominant Wind pathogen.
*Angelica sinensis* Root (San Qian), Raw *Paeonia lactiflora* Root (Wu Qian), *Cinnamomum cassia* Twig (Yi Qian Ban), Clear Honey-fried *Glycyrrhiza uralensis* Root (Yi Qian Ban, stir-fried until charred), Huai *Dioscorea opposita* Rhizome (Wu Qian)
*Alisma orientale* Rhizome (San Qian), Stir-fried *Tribulus terrestris* Fruit (San Qian), *Morus alba* Leaf (Yi Qian), Xuan *Chaenomelis Fructus* (San Qian), Xinhui *Citrus reticulata* Peel (Ba Fen)
Palpation reveals a very smooth and slow pulse. Slowness is the fundamental image of the Spleen pulse. What is meant by "pulse must have spirit" refers to this. Heat-promoting drugs should not be advanced. Instead, use the method of benefiting Yin and strengthening bones.
Prepared *Rehmannia glutinosa* Root (Ba Qian), Stir-fried *Eucommia ulmoides* Bark (San Qian), *Biota orientalis* Seed (San Qian), Huai *Dioscorea opposita* Rhizome (Si Qian), *Angelica sinensis* Root (San Qian), Processed *Cibotium barometz* Rhizome (Er Qian, remove hairs), Real *Taxillus chinensis* Herb (San Qian), Stir-fried *Paeonia lactiflora* Root (Er Qian), *Silybum marianum* (Chuan Xuduan) (San Qian), Huai *Achyranthes bidentata* Root (San Qian, stir-fried), Jian *Dendrobium nobile* Stem (San Qian)
During attacks, there is pure heat, great thirst, and sweating. This generally belongs to Dan Malaria (a type of malaria characterized by high fever). Today the onset is earlier. The malaria is about to heal, but do not induce sweating. Must visit again tomorrow.
After drinking, slight chest distension occurs because water fluids do not descend quickly. Tongue coating is thicker than yesterday, still slightly yellow. Mouth and throat are very dry, indicating Heat damaging Lung fluids. *Baihu Tang* (White Tiger Decoction) is originally a drug for generating fluids and removing heat. Removing heat and generating fluids aligns with the root of the disease. Previously, there was dizziness and heavy limbs, indicating existing Damp-Heat Phlegm. The pulse is rapid but not stagnant, definitely not latent summerheat. Again propose *Baihu Tang* (White Tiger Decoction) added with dampness-dispelling and phlegm-resolving agents, combined with fluid generation.
Raw Gypsum Fibrosum (Yi Liang), *Anemarrhena asphodeloides* Rhizome (San Qian), Raw *Glycyrrhiza uralensis* Root (Yi Qian Ban), *Forsythia suspensa* Fruit (San Qian), *Prunus armeniaca* Seed (San Qian), Red *Poria cocos* (Wu Qian), *Citrus reticulata* Peel (Ba Fen), Raw *Coix lacryma-jobi* Seed (Liu Qian), *Fritillaria thunbergii* Bulb (Xiang Bei) (San Qian), *Aurantii Fructus Immaturus* (Zhi Ke) (Yi Qian Ban), White Coarse Rice (San Qian)
After using *Baihu Tang* (White Tiger Decoction), severe heat and profuse sweating have stopped. The anterior half of the tongue coating has disappeared, but the root still shows yellow. Mouth is bitter and greasy, palms remain hot, urine is red. Palpation: Left hand pulse has become smaller, Right hand pulse shows slight stagnation, but both are rapid. Rapid indicates pathogens are not yet cleared. It is thought that Dan Malaria results from Summerheat pathogen in the Lung. Again propose methods entering the Lung meridian. Since there is inherent Dampness, add dampness-dispelling agents again.
*Capricornu Bubali* Horn (Er Qian, decoct first), *Fritillaria thunbergii* Bulb (Xiang Bei) (San Qian), *Tetrapanax papyrifer* Pith (Tong Cao) (Yi Qian), *Citrus reticulata* Peel (Ba Fen), *Forsythia suspensa* Fruit (San Qian), *Ophiopogon japonicus* Tuber (Mai Dong) (San Qian), Red *Poria cocos* (San Qian), Raw *Coix lacryma-jobi* Seed (Ba Qian), *Liuyisan* (Six-to-One Powder) (San Qian), Charred *Gardenia jasminoides* Fruit (San Qian), Bamboo Shavings (Zhu Rou) (One pill)
Yesterday exertion occurred; today there is again alternating chills and fever. Tongue is yellow, thirsty, pulse rapid. Regarding chills and fever, some arise from Lung and Shaoyang Gallbladder, some from Liver, some from Mu Yuan (Diaphragmatic origin), some from disharmony of Ying and Wei. Now, since it triggers upon exertion, blame lies in disharmony of Ying and Wei. Sweating and loose stools indicate Wei pathology. Dry heaving or clear water suggests Liver pathology. Today, first propose the method of harmonizing Ying and Wei.
Eastern Yangshen (Dongyang Shen) (Yi Qian Ban), *Citrus reticulata* Peel (Ba Fen), Stir-fried *Paeonia lactiflora* Root (San Qian), Yangchun Amomum Fruit (Liu Fen, taken with decoction), Raw *Atractylodes macrocephala* Rhizome (Sheng Zhu) (San Qian), Alum-processed *Pinellia ternata* Tuber (San Qian), Roasted Ginger Char (Ba Fen), Fresh Ginger (Two slices), *Angelica sinensis* Root (San Qian), *Cinnamomum cassia* Twig (Yi Qian), *Poria cocos* (San Qian), Red Dates (Seven pieces)
Tongue coating is clean, pulse is calm. Only redness remains in the nose area; Yin should be benefited.
Large Raw *Rehmannia glutinosa* Root (Ba Qian), Northern Schisandra Berry (Beiwuweizi) (Fourteen grains), Chuan *Dendrobium nobile* Stem (San Qian), *Paeonia suffruticosa* Root Bark (Dan Pi) (San Qian), Honey-fried Tortoise Shell (Wu Qian, decoct first)
Huai *Dioscorea opposita* Rhizome (Si Qian), Xinhui *Citrus reticulata* Peel (Ba Fen), Camellia Flower (Shanchahua) (San Qian), *Ophiopogon japonicus* Tuber (Mai Dong) (San Qian), *Poria cocos* (San Qian)
In theories of latent pathogens, every afternoon brings either pure heat, pure cold, or alternating chills and fever, day after day. Now, body heat for three days; after cooling, fever returns on the sixth day; on the seventh day, sweating occurs and body cools. Pulse is slow, tongue white and dry, urine red and short. This is post-sweating state. Books say: those who sweat much should avoid promoting urination. Taste is bland, Stomach fire is not cleared, breath odor is similar. My view is still that it is a condition of Wind transforming into Fire in the Lung sector. Head is not distended, chest is not stuffy. Although pulse is stagnant and waist/legs are sore, it is definitely not a latent pathogen. Again propose clearing and cooling Lung and Stomach.
*Capricornu Bubali* Horn (Er Qian, decoct first), *Forsythia suspensa* Fruit (San Qian, keep heart), Charred *Gardenia jasminoides* Fruit (San Qian), *Prunus armeniaca* Seed (San Qian), Fresh Raw *Rehmannia glutinosa* Root (Ba Qian)
*Ophiopogon japonicus* Tuber (Mai Dong) (San Qian, keep heart), *Citrus reticulata* Peel (Ba Fen), *Poria cocos* (San Qian), *Platycodon grandiflorus* Root (Yi Qian Ban), *Fritillaria thunbergii* Bulb (Xiang Bei) (San Qian), *Lophatherum gracile* Stem (Thirty slices)
Lung Wind common cold. Body has cooled, tongue coating is clean. Pulse is small and rapid. Thirsty, little sleep. Dizziness and headache have improved. Fingers feel numb, lower back hurts. Breathing causes waist pain. This is a disease in the sinews. Bowel movement unrelieved for four days. This involves fatigue.
Northern *Glehnia littoralis* Root (Beishashen) (Liu Qian), *Ophiopogon japonicus* Tuber (Mai Dong) (San Qian), Root Raw *Rehmannia glutinosa* Gen (Wu Qian), *Fritillaria thunbergii* Bulb (Xiang Bei) (San Qian), Raw *Haliotis diversicolor* Shell (Shi Jueming) (San Qian), Raw Barley Sprout (Sheng Guya) (Wu Qian), Xinhui *Citrus reticulata* Peel (Ba Fen), Chuan *Dendrobium nobile* Stem (San Qian), *Poria cocos* (San Qian), Raw *Polygonatum odoratum* Rhizome (Sheng Yuzhu) (Si Qian), *Lophatherum gracile* Stem (Thirty slices)
Previous days: chills, fever, head distension. Today: cold, then shivering, then fever. No sweat during fever. Head and body feel numb. Waist and back piercing pain. Tongue yellow and slippery. Palpation: both hands pulse stagnant. Books say numbness belongs to Damp-Phlegm. Combined with pulse, fear it becomes a latent pathogen. But cold with shivering is a malaria image, and malaria belongs to the Liver sector. Propose Lung sector method. Do not use *Xiaochaihu Tang* (Minor Bupleurum Decoction) to invite thieves.
Su Bohe Leaves (Yi Qian Ban), Alum-processed *Pinellia ternata* Tuber (San Qian), Apricot Kernel (San Qian), *Magnolia officinalis* Bark (Nong Po) (Yi Qian), White Mustard Seed (Baijiezi) (Yi Qian), *Citrus reticulata* Peel (Ba Fen)
Talcum (Huashi) (San Qian), Wine-fried *Scutellaria baicalensis* Root (Jiu Huangqin) (Yi Qian Ban), White Cardamom Shell (Baikuo Qiao) (Yi Qian), *Platycodon grandiflorus* Root (Er Qian), Perilla Stem (Sugeng) (Er Qian), Lotus leaf (Yi Jiao)
Liver Wind toothache for over a month. Right swelling subsided, left swelled again. Forehead pain. Pulse still wiry. Generally due to Blood deficiency generating Wind.
Stir-fried *Tribulus terrestris* Fruit (San Qian), Raw *Rehmannia glutinosa* Root (Ba Qian), Stir-fried Tea Chrysanthemum Char (Yi Qian Ban), Stir-fried *Pinellia ternata* Fermented Curd (San Qian), *Vitex agnus-castus* Fruit (Man Jingzi) (San Qian)
*Angelica sinensis* Root (San Qian), Sweet Goji Berry Char (Ganqizi Tan) (San Qian), *Citrus reticulata* Peel (Ba Fen), Tian Ma (Sanqingtianma) (Yi Qian Ban), Raw Oyster Shell (Sheng Muli) (Liu Qian), Raw *Haliotis diversicolor* Shell (Shi Jueming) (San Qian)
Lotus leaf (Yi Jiao)
Following Dan Malaria, Stomach Damp-Heat pathogen was brought along. Currently, tongue yellow has decreased, but root remains. Eye tendons still red. Nasal bridge color is pasty. Restless sleep, mouth dry. After eating, water transport issues. Pulse slightly slippery. This is a sign of unresolved Damp-Heat. To cure disease thoroughly, use previous method again.
Raw *Coix lacryma-jobi* Seed (Ba Qian), Raw *Atractylodes lancea* Rhizome (Er Qian), Alum-processed *Pinellia ternata* Tuber (Wu Qian), *Citrus reticulata* Peel (Ba Fen), *Capricornu Bubali* Horn (Er Qian, decoct first), *Forsythia suspensa* Fruit (San Qian), *Alisma orientale* Rhizome (Yi Qian Ban), Yangchun Amomum Fruit (Ba Fen, taken with decoction), *Poria cocos* (San Qian), *Artemisia capillaris* Herb (Mian Yichen) (San Qian), Bamboo Shavings (Zhu Rou) (One pill)
Loss of red (bleeding). Pain under right ribs. Tongue yellow. Urine and stool both hot. Palpation: Right hand wiry, Left Guan prominent. This must be due to Heat damaging Liver collaterals.
