(When the water in rivers, streams, and ravines first rises, drawing this water for cooking and eating is toxic and harmful to people.)
Place one or two pieces of Cyrtomium fortunei (Guanzhong) into a water vat, add 2 qian of Realgar (Xionghuang) and 2 qian of Alum (Mingfan) into the water. Wait until the water clarifies before drinking it, and the mud at the bottom of the vat must be removed.
If entering an area where Gu poison exists for dining, secretly hide a piece of food in your hand when you first start eating with chopsticks; it is safe to finish eating everything. After a short while, secretly bury that hidden piece of food under a pedestrian crossroads. The Gu poison will then cause disturbances in their home, and the master of the Gu will inevitably come back seeking help. Alternatively, allow the host to move their chopsticks first during the meal, or explicitly ask the host, "Is there no Gu poison here?" Strike the table with your chopsticks before eating, then the Gu poison cannot cause harm. Another prescription: sprinkle a small amount of powdered Realgar (Xionghuang) into wine. Eat garlic first, then other foods. When the host sees this, they will not administer Gu poison.
(If poisoned by Gu, first taste white Alum (Baifan) powder; if it does not feel astringent but tastes sweet, and subsequently raw black soybeans do not smell fishy/gamey, then one has been poisoned by Gu.)
If the toxin is in the upper part, take Cimicifuga herba (Shengma) to induce vomiting; if the toxin is in the lower part, take Curcuma aromatica (Yujin) to induce purgation. Or take Cimicifuga herba (Shengma) and Curcuma aromatica (Yujin) together; if it does not vomit, it will cause purgation. Another prescription: drink strongly decocted bark of Punica granatum root (Shiliu Genpi). If it does not cause purgation, it will expel living worms. Another prescription: grind white Alum (Baifan) and tea leaves (Yacha) into powder, mix with cold water and drink. Another prescription: take dried eel (Manli Yu) powder and consume on an empty stomach, or roast the eel until fragrant and eat it. Eels with five-colored patterns are especially good. One formula: decoct 3 qian of Ligularia fischeri (Tusanqi) and take orally. Another: decoct 3 qian of Aristolochia debilis (Madouling) and take orally; both are effective. Another method: grind Licorice root (Gancao) and white Alum (Baifan) into powder, mix with clear water and take; whether inducing vomiting or purgation, peace will be restored. Another method: take 3 he of swallow droppings (Yanshi), stew three bulbs of single-clove garlic, mix and pound into pills the size of wutong seeds. Take three pills per dose (three to five times a day); the Gu poison should be expelled with the stool.
Also, crush the roots of Coriander (Husui Gen, i.e., Yuan sui gen) to obtain half sheng of juice, mix with wine and take; the Gu poison will be resolved immediately. Also, grind Coriander seeds (Husui Zi), boil in water to extract juice, take half sheng cold, twice a day, until recovery.
(Verification method: use white Alum (Baifan) and raw beans as described above.)
Take two thorns and place them in the patient's room to search for and capture the insects. Another prescription: drink strongly decocted juice of Punica granatum flowers (Shiliuhua); once living worms are vomited out, the patient recovers. Another prescription: burn snake skin (Shepi) into powder, mix with water and take 1 qian; the worms should be vomited out, and the patient recovers.
