Treats conditions of insufficient essence and blood in men and women, and deficiency of Ying (Nutrient) and Wei (Defensive) Qi. It is suitable to prepare this formula for regular use.
Shu Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, 8 liang, sun-dried to remove moisture) Gou Qi Zi (Lycii Fructus, 4 liang; select the plumpest ones, bake dry to remove dampness) Chen Xiang (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum, 1 qian; if unavailable, Bai Tan Xiang (Santalum Album Lignum) may be used).
It greatly tonifies Qi and Blood.
Ren Shen Mo (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma Powder) and Ren Ru Fen (Human Milk Powder) in equal parts, formed into pills with refined honey.
Method for obtaining Human Milk Powder: Take milk from a healthy young woman, pour a small amount into a silver or tin ladle, float it on boiling water to heat (dun), then float it on cold water to cool, thereby processing it into powder.
Treats conditions of deficiency of True Yin in the Kidney and Liver, depletion of essence and scarcity of blood, soreness and weakness of the lower back and knees, emaciation and haggard appearance, seminal emission, impotence, and weakness. This is a secondary modification of Zuo Gui Wan (Left Restoring Pill) and You Gui Wan (Right Restoring Pill).
Shu Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, 8 liang) Tu Si Zi (Cuscutae Semen, processed) Du Zhong (Eucommiae Cortex) Gou Qi Zi (Lycii Fructus) Fu Ling (Poria) Yu Rou (Corni Fructus) Shan Yao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma, 4 liang) Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 3 liang), combined with refined honey to form pills.
(Xuan Lüshi of Zhongnan Mountain, due to mental exertion from chanting scriptures, dreamed that the Heavenly King bestowed this formula upon him, hence the name.) Treats conditions caused by excessive overthinking leading to insufficiency of Heart Blood, palpitations and forgetfulness, excessive sweating around the heart/chest area, irregular bowel movements (either constipation or diarrhea), and mouth/tongue ulcers.
Sheng Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix, 4 liang) Bai Zi Ren (Platycladi Semen, stir-fried, ground, oil removed) Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, wine-washed) Zao Ren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen) Tian Dong (Asparagi Radix, core removed) Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Radix, core removed) Wu Wei Zi (Schisandrae Fructus, 1 liang). Formed into pills the size of a bullet, coated with Cinnabar.
(Original text is fragmented here. Implied meaning: Sheng Di Huang enters the Heart and Kidney meridians, nourishes Yin and clears fire, thus serving as the Sovereign herb. Nourishing Yin serves to harmonize with Yang, embodying the principle of Water-Fire Ji Ji (Mutual Interaction). Dan Shen and Dang Gui are used to... Lung... Formula... Benefit... This medicine greatly tonifies Qi and Blood, therefore it can darken beard and hair, strengthen the physique. Its efficacy in nurturing the Primordial Yuan and assisting transformation is beyond full description.)
