Among the Six Qi (Six Climate Factors), Wind is primary; therefore, wind diseases are most numerous. If the pathogen is superficial and remains in the skin and hair, it is termed Shang Feng (Common Cold). If it lingers for a long time in the joints, it becomes Wei Bi (Flaccidity and Obstruction syndromes).
(From *Jin Gui Yao Lue*) Treats Da Feng (Great Wind), characterized by heavy and uncomfortable limbs, and a sensation of coldness and insufficiency in the heart. (*Wai Tai Mi Yao* uses this formula to treat Feng Dian [Wind Mania].)
Ju Hua (Chrysanthemi Flos, 40 fen) Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, 10 fen) Jie Geng (Platycodonis Radix, 8 fen) Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix, 5 fen) Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) Fu Ling (Poria) Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma)

the dregs will be expelled; avoid cold food.
This addresses Zhong Feng (Stroke) patients with concurrent cold pathogens that have not yet transformed into heat, serving as a standard for treatment methods. It refers to wind entering from the exterior, carrying cold which generates heat, termed Da Feng. Symptoms manifest as

Since Wind is a Yang pathogen, it generates Heat. Thus, we know that if arising from Blood loss, Heat generates Wind, aided by external pathogens; if arising from Zhong Feng, Wind generates
Heat which stagnates Body Fluids, causing Phlegm-Saliva to obstruct the chest and diaphragm. (Observing the ingredients of Feng Yin Tang, they all harmonize the Zang-Fu and unblock the Collaterals; this is treating Wind, not specifically targeting only Wind.) This indicates that Liu He Jian’s theory emphasizing Heat was foreshadowed by Zhang Zhong Jing. However, it does not exclusively focus on Heat. If there is genuine Yang Deficiency allowing external pathogens to invade, it leads to sudden collapse, Hemiplegia, and tendon spasm/chou Chu. If various Wei syndromes originate from Lung Heat, transmitting to the Five Viscera, leading to confusion, convulsions, oppression, and sudden aphonia, these belong to Fire. Causing limbs unable to hold, stiff tongue root, flaccid legs unable to walk, and audible phlegm-rattle, these belong to Earth. These are all Damp-Heat diseases, completely unrelated to the principles of Zhong Feng involving deficiency, excess wind, or excess cold. Regarding the two formulas, Hei San and Feng Yin Tang, Yu Jia Yan considered them Sage Formulas of Zhang Zhong Jing, while Cheng Yun Lai...
