(From *Jin Gui Yao Lue*) Treating conditions presenting with symptoms resembling mania, such as erratic behavior, wandering aimlessly, and continuous solitary speech, without aversion to cold or fever, and with a floating pulse.
Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig), Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root) (3 fen), Fangji (Stephania Root), Gancao (Licorice Root) (1 fen). Soak in one cup of wine overnight, then wring out the juice. Add Shengdihuang (Rehmannia Root) two jin. Cut into pieces.
This is also due to wind pathogen invading the Heart. Wind rising necessarily causes Qi surge; Qi surge necessarily causes phlegm-fluid stagnation; phlegm-fluid stagnation leads to dampness flow; dampness retention obstructs Fire. Pathogenic factors gather in the Heart, therefore...

Da Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root), Yan (Salt). Grind into equal parts powder. After washing the head, apply one fangcun bi (square-inch measure) of the powder, massaging the affected area to promote the action of the medicine.
Toufeng (Head Wind) is a disease fixed on one side; therefore, Fuzi is used to seize and eliminate the pathogen, and Yan is used to clear the pathogen.
(From *Jin Gui Yao Lue*) Treating pain in various joints, emaciation and weakness of the body, swelling of the feet as if they were detaching, dizziness, shortness of breath, and a sensation of warmth in the chest with nausea.
Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger) (5 liang), Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig), Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome), Zhimu (Anemarrhena Rhizome), Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root) (4 liang), Shaoyao (Peony Root) (3 liang), Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root), Mahuang (Ephedra Stem), Gancao (Licorice Root) (2 liang).
This type of Lijie disease (Joint Bi) is a formula for external invasion by wind-damp pathogens combined with deficiency of both Spleen and Kidney. The pain in various joints indicates dampness retained in the joints. Consequently, the body... thus the head... and Tai... Mahuang... obstruction
(From *Jin Gui Yao Lue*) Treating Lijie disease (Joint Bi), where joints cannot flex or extend, accompanied by pain; it also treats Hongjiaojiao (Hong Kong Foot/Gouty Arthritis) pain with inability to flex or extend.
Wutou (Aconitum Carlemanii Lateralis Radix Preparata) (5 pieces. Cut into pieces. Decoct with two sheng of honey until reduced to one sheng. Remove Wutou.) Gancao (Honey-fried Licorice Root), Huangqi (Astragalus Root), Shaoyao (Peony Root), Mahuang (Ephedra Stem) (3...) Zhimu (Anemarrhena Rhizome). Take all at once.
Lijie disease belongs to Xingbi (Wandering Bi). It arises from dampness entering from below, carrying wind pathogen to flow through the channels; therefore, there may be foot swelling accompanied by fever, and further inability to flex or extend with pain.
(From *Jin Gui Yao Lue*) Treating Hongjiaochongxin (Hong Kong Foot rushing to the Heart). (This is also due to wind pathogen ascending from below. Hence, this formula is listed under the Stroke Gate.)
Fanshi (Alumen) (2 liang). Decoct in one dou five sheng of sour rice water, boil for three to five boils, and soak the feet. It is beneficial.
Fanshe (Alumen) astringes dampness and resolves toxicity, so it is used for external treatment. However, even when the condition reaches "rushing to the Heart," it can still treat it. Generally, Hongjiaojiao progressing to Chongxin is due to Kidney Water carrying Jiaoqi (Foot Qi) by...
