For women's diseases, only menstruation and various conditions before pregnancy and after childbirth are different from men. Other diseases are the same as those in men and can be treated by referring to other departments.
[Xiaoyao San (Free and Easy Wanderer Powder)] Treats irritability and fever caused by blood deficiency, irregular menstruation, distending pain in the umbilical and abdominal regions, tidal fever, and coughing. Ingredients include: Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), Poria (Fuling), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Baizhu) (stir-fried), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Baishao) (wine-stir-fried), Bupleuri Radix (Chaihu) (8 fen), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Preparata (Zhi Gancao), Menthae Haplocalycis Herba (Bohe) (5 fen each), plus one slice of Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Shengjiang). Decoct with water and take orally.
[Irregular Menstruation] Symptoms include amenorrhea for three or four months, or menstruation occurring twice a month. Ingredients include: Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Guishen), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Baishao), Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin) (5 qian each), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Baizhu) (earth-stir-fried), Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong) (3 qian each), Corni Fructus (Shanyurou) (1 liang 5 qian). All ingredients are ground into fine powder. Take 2 qian mixed with wine on an empty stomach, twice daily. Taking it down with plain boiled water is also acceptable.
[Ziqin Wan] Treats excessive menstrual flow that continues monthly after the age of forty-nine, when Tian Gui (menstrual essence) should have ceased. Ingredients include: Scutellariae Radix (Zi Huangqin) (4 liangs). Soak in rice washing water for seven days, changing the water once daily. Dry after the seventh day. Repeat this process seven times, totaling forty-nine days of soaking and seven dryings. Grind into fine powder. Make pills with rice vinegar, sized like paulownia seeds. Take 30-50 pills on an empty stomach, washed down with light vinegar soup or white wine. Effective upon completion of the course.
[Long-term Amenorrhea] Take 4 liangs of Bombyx Batryticatus (Cansha), stir-fry until half-yellow, place in a pot of unadulterated wine, boil in a clay pot, remove, and store in porcelain. Remove the Cansha. Drink several cups warm to induce menstruation. For virgins with amenorrhea for several months, accompanied by alternating chills and fever, or abdominal pain due to blood stasis, use male rat feces (those pointed at both ends). Stir-fry, grind into fine powder, and take 2 qian mixed with warm wine. Stop immediately once menstruation resumes. For long-term amenorrhea leading to masses (Zheng Jia), use Cyperi Rhizoma (Xiangfu) (1 jin). Soak overnight in rice washing water, dry, pound in a stone mortar, remove hairs, and divide into four parts: soak one part in child's urine overnight, one part in rice vinegar overnight, one part in wine overnight, and one part in salt water overnight. Dry and mix evenly. Mix with Qiai (Qimoxiao Ai Ye) (8 liangs) cooked in rice vinegar until yellow. Grind all into fine powder. Make pills with rice vinegar, sized like paulownia seeds. Take 50 pills per dose, washed down with light vinegar or plain water, twice daily. Continue until cured. Avoid raw, cold, and greasy foods.
[Blood Mass (Xue Xia)] For amenorrhea resulting in blood masses causing severe distending pain in the abdomen and hypochondrium, wash and take 1 jin each of Alternanthera Philoxeroides (Shuihonghua) and Verbena Officinalis (Mabiancao). Boil down into a paste. Add Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (Shengdi), Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Baishao) (wine-stir-fried, 2 liangs each), Carthami Flos (Honghua), Myrrha (Moyao) (de-oiled, 1 liang each), Corydalis Rhizoma (Yanhusuo), Trogopterori Faeces (Wulingzhi) (1.5 liangs each), Linderae Cortex (Wuyao), Aucklandiae Radix (Muxiang) (1 liang each). Grind all into powder, mix with the previous paste, add a little rice paste to form pills sized like paulownia seeds. Take on an empty stomach with wine.
[Retrograde Menstruation] For long-term amenorrhea with bleeding from the mouth or nose, drink one cup of well-aged ink ground with water. Bleeding will stop. Subsequently, decoct Angelicae Sinensis Radix Caudex (Dangguiwei) and Carthami Flos (Honghua) (2 qian each) in water and take orally. (Drinking leek juice is also very effective.)
[Continuous Blood Leakage] For menstruation occurring twice a month or excessive flow during periods, use Sophorae Flavescentis Flos (Huaihua) charred to retain its nature and ground into powder. Take 2-3 qian before meals with warm wine or salt water. Ingredients for pills: Scutellariae Radix (Zi Huangqin) (wine-stir-fried), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Baishao) (wine-stir-fried, 1 liang each), Phellodendri Cortex (Huangbai) (salt-water stir-fried, 3 qian), Testudinis et Chelydrae Carapax et Plastrum (Guiban) (vinegar-roasted, 1 liang), Toosendan Cortex (Chunshu Baipi) (wine-stir-fried, 7.5 qian). Grind all into powder, make honey pills sized like paulownia seeds. Take 3 qian on an empty stomach with light vinegar soup.
[Metrorrhagia (Uncontrolled Bleeding)] Regardless of cold or heat patterns, use Nelumbinis Nuciferae Calyx (Lianpengke) (preferably wind-dried and aged) and Schizonepetae Spica (Jingjiesui) charred to retain their nature in equal parts. Grind into fine powder. Take 2 qian with rice drink. (Also treats continuous blood leakage.) Orobanchi Flos (Baibiandouhua) dried and ground, take 2 qian on an empty stomach mixed with rice drink and a little salt.
[Metrorrhagia Like a Spring] Use old loofah fibers (Laosijiasi) and worn palm fiber (Baizong) (washed clean if old), charred to retain their nature in equal parts. Take 2 qian mixed with salt water. For severe cases that do not stop, use Mume Fructus (Wumei) and Zingiberis Rhizoma Preparata (Ganjiang) charred to retain their nature in equal parts. Grind into powder, take 2 qian with salt water. After bleeding stops, frequently decoct Nymphaea Seed (Oujie) and drink; this is effective.
[Wind-Heat Metrorrhagia] Schizonepetae Spica (Jingjiesui) (2 liangs, charred over sesame oil lamp to retain nature, ground fine), take 2 qian mixed with child's urine.
For any continuous blood leakage or metrorrhagia lasting a long time, use leaves of Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Renshenye). Take 1 qian, steep in water, and drink. Continuous intake for 5-7 doses will stop the bleeding.
[Metrorrhagia with Lower Abdominal Pain] For continuous bleeding accompanied by lower abdominal pain, use Paeoniae Radix Alba (Baishao) (wine-stir-fried, 1 liang) and Platycladi Cacumen (Ce Baiye) lightly stir-fried (3 liangs). Grind into fine powder, take 2 qian mixed with wine.
[Sanguinary Dysuria] Take 1 jin of Daylily (Jinzhencai), boil lightly in water daily, consume several taels as desired, and it will heal itself. Artemisiae Annuae Semen (Qinghaozi) (as needed), grind into fine powder, mix with winter rice porridge, mash into pills. Take 3 qian with good wine every morning. Mild cases resolve in half a month, severe cases in twenty days. Note: This medication causes infertility; young women desiring children should not take it.
[Leukorrhea] For leukorrhea due to Kidney deficiency, use Psoraleae Fructus (Poguzhi) roasted dry and ground. Take 8 fen, make a hole in one egg, insert the powder, mix well, seal with paper, steam in rice until cooked, and eat on an empty stomach. Ten doses result in complete cure. Equal parts of Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma (Shichangpu) and Psoraleae Fructus (Poguzhi), stir-fried and ground fine. Take 2 qian mixed with wine infused with Shichangpu. Fish mucus (Yujiao) stir-fried slowly into powder, taken with good wine is also effective.
[Internal Heat and Blood Heat Leukorrhea] Codonopsis Radix (Tushashen) (as needed), roasted dry and ground. Take 2-3 qian every morning with rice drink, continue until cured. Buckwheat flour (Qiaomaimian) roasted scorched and ground, mixed with egg white to form pills the size of mung beans. Take 2 qian with plain water early in the morning, continue until cured.
[Damp-Phlegm Flowing Leukorrhea] Leukorrhea caused by this mechanism is common. Use 1 liang of Weathered Calcined Alumen (Fenghua Duanshi) and 3 liangs of Poria (Baifuling). Form pills with rice paste, sized like paulownia seeds. Take 20-30 pills on an empty stomach with rice drink; very effective. (Note: Duanshi has astringent properties, and Fuling promotes dampness drainage, hence the efficacy. Repeated tests confirm effectiveness; Duanshi is essential.)
[Chronic Leukorrhea Unresponsive to Treatment] For chronic red and white leukorrhea unresponsive to other medicines, use one whole Cyathulae Radix (Guanzhong) (remove hairs and calyx). Dampen with rice vinegar, roast slowly over low fire until cooked, grind into powder. Take 2 qian on an empty stomach with rice drink. Repeated tests show high efficacy and prevention of recurrence.
[Taishan Pan Shi San (An Tai San)] Treats dual deficiency of Qi and Blood, Qi deficiency in obese individuals, Blood heat in thin individuals, or inherent Spleen-Stomach weakness leading to fatigue, poor appetite, and recurrent miscarriage. Also known as Taishan Pan Shi San. The formula is mild and nourishes the Spleen and Stomach. Ingredients: Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Renshen), Astragali Radix (Huangqi) (honey-roasted), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), Dipsaci Radix (Xuduan), Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin) (wine-stir-fried), Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (Shudi) (1 qian each), Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Baishao) (wine-stir-fried, 8 fen each), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Baizhu) (earth-stir-fried, 2 qian), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Preparata (Zhi Gancao), Amomi Fructus (Sharen) (5 fen each). Add a pinch of Glucinis Semen (Nuomi). Decoct in water and take after meals. If Blood heat is felt, double the Huangqin and reduce Sharen. If Stomach is weak, increase Sharen and reduce Huangqin. After conception, take one dose every 3-5 days. After the fourth month, there is no danger. Abstain from sexual activity, control anger, avoid alcohol, vinegar, and pungent-hot foods, and do not take warming herbs like Mugwort and Asari.
[Xiao Chan Shen Xiao Gao (Divine Efficacy Paste for Miscarriage Prevention)**]** For those prone to habitual miscarriage, applying this paste ensures safety. [Miscarriage]**]** Eat about twenty old female chickens boiled plainly to prevent recurrence. After conception, take 3 qian of Boehmeriae Caulis (Zhuma Gen), cook with glutinous rice into porridge, and eat. Five to seven times a month is effective. Cook one carp (approx. 2 jin) with salt and soy sauce and eat. Three times a month promotes fetal growth. Roast 1 liang of silk cotton in a porcelain jar until ash,冲 with hot wine and drink. Take approximately seven doses.
[FO SHOU SAN]**]** Treats all cases of unstable fetal Qi, whether due to post-illness weakness, trauma/falls damaging the fetus causing death in the womb, pain, fainting, or blood rushing to the heart. Decoct with equal parts water and wine. Take until cured.

Decoct in water and take to stabilize. For unbearable fetal movement pain, feeling like immediate expulsion, use Amomi Fructus (Sharen) (roasted black with shell, ground). Take 2 qian with warm wine. Or use large Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (Da Shengdi) (1 liang) and Amomi Fructus (Sharen) (5 qian with shell, wine-stir-fried). Decoct with half water and half wine. Take another dose if stabilized.
[Qi Deficiency Fetal Movement]**]** Take 1 he of Glucinis Semen (Nuomi), 1 liang of Astragali Radix (Zhi Huangqi), and 3-5 qian of Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong). Decoct in water, divide into two doses. Prevents abortion even with abdominal pain and fluid loss.
[Threatened Abortion with Continuous Bleeding]**]** Decoct 5-6 liangs of Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (Shengdi) in light wine, concentrate, and drink. For spontaneous bleeding without cause, take 1 liang of genuine aged Ejiao (Donkey-hide gelatin), roast into powder, dissolve in wine, divide into two doses. If Blood heat, add 2 liangs of Shengdi, decoct, mix juice, and take.
[Fetal Movement with Lochial Discharge]**]** Sudden discharge of yellow fluid like glue or bean soup during pregnancy, with fetal movement and abdominal pain, treat as Qi deficiency. Cook 5 he of Glucinis Semen (Nuomi) and 1 liang of Astragali Radix (Huangqi) into porridge and eat to stop discharge. Decoct 2 liangs of Boehmeriae Caulis (Zhuma Gen) and 5 liangs of Wenyin (Silver) in half water and half wine. Also treats unbearable fetal movement pain and threatened abortion. If Zhuma Gen is unavailable, replace with Imperatae Rhizoma (Maocaogen).
[Hyperemesis Gravidarum / Restlessness in Pregnancy]**]** Thirst, irritability, inability to sleep at night. Take 1 qian of Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian) ground into powder, mixed with rice drink. Decoct Bambusae Folium (Zhuru) in water and drink to stabilize.
[Gravidic Dysentery]**]** Open one hole in an egg, stir with a silver needle. Add 5 fen of Minium (Huangdan). Steam in rice and eat.
[Gravidic Cough]**]** Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus (Chuanbeimu) (remove heart, stir-fry with bran until yellow, remove bran, grind). Form pills with rock sugar, size of Euryales Semen (Qianshi). Keep dissolving in mouth to stop cough.
[Hydrops Gravidarum]**]** Swelling of abdomen, head, and face after conception. Take 2 qian of Polyporus (Chifuling), 1 qian each of Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix (Fangji), Perillae Folium (Suye), and Morb Cortex (Sangpi), 5 fen of Aucklandiae Radix (Muxiang). Decoct in water. Take every few days.

[Urinary Retention]**]** Crush Plantaginis Herba (Cheqiancao), extract juice, mix with Turbinatis Lapillus (Huashi) powder, apply around the navel (size of a bowl opening). Replace if hot. In late pregnancy (6-7 months), urinary retention is due to sinking of Fetal Qi, pressure on the urethra, and Qi deficiency failing to support the fetus. Take Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang. Ingredients: Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Renshen), Astragali Radix (Zhi Huangqi), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Chao Baizhu), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Preparata (Zhi Gancao) (1.5 qian each), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui) (1 qian), Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Chenpi) (5 fen), Bupleuri Radix (Chaihu), Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma) (3 fen each), add...
[Tai San]**]** For unstable fetal Qi after 5-6 months of conception, take two doses per month to stabilize the fetus and facilitate delivery. Ingredients: Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Guishen), Cuscutae Semen (Tusizi) (wine-stir-fried, 1.5 qian each), Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Baishao) (wine-stir-fried), Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus (Chuanbeimu) (remove heart, 1 qian each), Astragali Radix (Zhi Huangqi), Schizonepetae Spica (Jingjiesui) (8 fen each), Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex (N Houpo) (3 slices). Decoct in water and take. Suitable for obese, sedentary individuals to take regularly for stable pregnancy and easy delivery, preventing postpartum illness. Not suitable for thin, weak individuals to take frequently. After 5-6 months of pregnancy, eat more pork stomach to facilitate delivery. Cook rotten fabric until soft, mix with sesame oil, eat daily; greatly detoxifies, lubricates the fetus, clears heat, and tonifies. Nursing mothers eating sesame oil (ground, not aged) can ensure healthy infants.
[Labor Onset]**]** Near term, sudden abdominal pain resembling labor but not delivering is called "Trial Month". Severe abdominal pain radiating to the lower back indicates true labor. Pinch the proximal phalanx of the mother's middle finger; if it throbs, labor is imminent. At the first sign, conserve energy, stay calm, do not exert force prematurely to avoid exhaustion or malposition. Key principles: 1. Sleep, 2. Endure pain, 3. Delay pushing. Do not panic. If malposition occurs, lie supine to widen the abdomen, allowing the fetus to turn. The midwife should manually guide the fetus. If the fetus reaches the birth canal, joints loosen, chest sinks, lower abdomen feels heavy, urge to defecate/urinate arises, and golden flashes appear in eyes. This is the right time. Push once, and the baby is born safely.
[Jia Wei Xiong Gui Tang]**]** Treats failure of the pubic symphysis to open, preventing delivery. Ingredients: Whole Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Quandanggui) (1 liang), Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong) (7 qian), Cinis Capillis (Xueyuhui) (3 qian), Testudinis et Chelydrae Carapax et Plastrum (Guiban) (size of hand, vinegar-roasted, crushed). Decoct 2 bowls of water to 1 bowl. Take. Delivery occurs within the time it takes to walk five li. For breech or transverse presentation, take urgently, rest, and manually guide limbs back in. Sleep overnight, natural delivery follows. For prolonged labor (1-2 days), take this formula, push manually, rest, breathe calmly, and deliver naturally. In summer heat, take Liu Yi San (Turbinatis Lapillus 6 qian, Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma 1 qian) mixed with cold boiling water (3 qian). Do not use if not due to extreme heat.
[Cui Sheng Dan (Labor Inducing Pills)**]** For difficult labor, breech, or transverse presentation: Semen Plantaginis (Cheqianzi) ground (2 qian), take with wine (or water if non-drinker). (Note: Cheqian is sweet, cold, non-toxic, promotes urination without depleting Qi; safe even in repeated doses.) Huangshukui Hua (Abutilonis Indici Flos) roasted and ground, take 2 qian with warm wine or plain water. For dry uterus causing difficult labor, take three doses consecutively. If no flowers, use seeds (0.5 he) ground, take with warm wine. (Note: Shukui is slippery, sweet, cold, non-toxic; widens abdominal Qi, lubricates fetus for easy delivery.) Leonuri Herba (Yimucao) decocted as tea facilitates birth. Smilacis Radix (Xiaohuci) root mashed,冲 with one cup of good wine, take to deliver. Frankincense (Ruxiang) de-oiled, ground, made into pills with pig heart blood, sized like paulownia seeds, coated with Cinnabar (Zhusha), dried in shade. Take 2 pills with warm wine. Chew lotus petals inscribed with the character "Ren" and swallow to deliver. Generally, labor-inducing pills should not be taken too early. If amniotic fluid has not broken, wait 1-2 hours after rupture, then take urgently as strength fails and dryness increases. Jia Wei Xiong Gui Tang and Fo Shou San are excellent for induction; early use is harmless. Labor induction does not require rare drugs; moving blood and lubricating the fetus is like pushing a boat with water.
[Difficult Labor]**]** For dry amniotic fluid and sticky fetus: Huashi (Turbinatis Lapillus) (water-washed, 1 liang), White Honey (Baimi), Sesamum Indicum Oleum (Mayou) (half bowl each). Slowly boil honey and oil, skim foam, mix with Huashi, take at once. Externally, mix oil and massage mother's abdomen above and below navel for immediate effect.
[Moxibustion for Difficult Labor]**]** Apply moxa cones the size of rice grains to the fifth toe of the right foot, 3-5 sessions. Delivery follows.
[Prolapsed Intestine at Birth]**]** Stay calm. Cut a small amount of hair from the vertex. Mash 49 castor seeds (Ricini Semen) (peeled and skin removed), apply to the vertex. Intestine retracts. Wash off immediately after retraction; delay is harmful. Alternatively, insufflate a little Pinelliae Rhizoma Preparatum (Banxia) powder into the nose to induce sneezing, retracting the intestine. Or, immerse the area in warm decoction of Astragali Radix (Huangqi) in a clean lacquered wooden basin.
[Retained Placenta]**]** Have the mother stir her own hair slightly into the throat to induce nausea, expelling the placenta. Also treats difficult labor. Swallow one raw egg white. Heat the mother's shoe sole, apply to lower abdomen up and down 14 times to expel. Mash 1 liang of Castoris Semen (Bimazi Ren), apply to the sole of the mother's right foot. Remove quickly after placenta delivery to prevent intestinal prolapse. (If intestine prolapses, apply this paste to the vertex to retract it.)
[Postpartum Syncope]**]** For blood rush causing unconsciousness, lift the mother's hair with both hands and do not let her fall flat to prevent blood attacking the heart. Quickly chop one bunch of Chinese Chive (Jiucai), put in a spouted pot, boil rice vinegar, pour into pot, seal top, and inhale vinegar fumes through the spout into the patient's mouth/nose. Or apply a little to hands/nose. Release hair only after stabilization. Take 6 fen of Schizonepetae Spica (Jingjiesui) (charred black, ground fine), mix with hot child's urine,灌 (force feed) to restore consciousness. If no medicine available, hot child's urine alone can save. For excessive blood loss causing frequent dizziness, take Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui) (5 qian), Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong) (3 qian), decoct in water and take.
[Preventing Syncope]**]** Place good vinegar by the bed. Put red-hot charcoal in a basin, sprinkle rice vinegar occasionally to maintain vinegar aroma in the room. Burning old lacquerware is also effective. Postpartum, take 10+ Lotus Calyx Tips (Lianpengdi), 1 he of Mao Mi, decoct in clear water to one cup, mix with one cup of child's urine and take. Good...
[Postpartum Oppression]**]** For residual evil blood rushing to the heart causing oppression and abdominal pain, crush Lotus Root (Ou), extract juice, drink 1-2 cups warm for effect. During lochia retention, for "Child Pillow" abdominal pain, crush 100 Hawthorn Flesh (Shanzharon), decoct in water, mix with rock sugar into paste,冲 with good wine, take 3 qian to expel bad blood and relieve pain. For heart pain due to incomplete expulsion of evil blood, stir-fry Lotus Leaf (Heye) until fragrant, grind into powder, take with child's urine or plain water.
[Postpartum Blood Stasis]**]** For lochia retention with abdominal pain, stir-fry Polygoni Cuspidati Rhizoma (Puhuang) lightly (5 qian), decoct in water and take. (Note: Puhuang is sweet, neutral, non-toxic, moves blood, relieves heart/abdominal pain.) Safe for postpartum use. For blood stasis attacking upward causing pain, distension, touch sensitivity, chest fullness, panting, and imminent death: use Myrrha (Moyao) (roasted on bamboo leaf, de-oiled) and Dragon's Blood (Xuexie) (1 qian each, ground fine), mix with child's urine and wine. (Note: Moyao is bitter, neutral, non-toxic, disperses blood, stops pain. Xuexie is sweet, neutral, non-toxic, disperses stagnant blood, stops pain, tonifies Heart Pericardium collaterals.)
[Uterine Prolapse]**]** For postpartum external prolapse, take Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang (see earlier formula), add vinegar-stir-fried Paeoniae Radix Alba (Baishao). Externally decoct Astragali Radix (Huangqi)...
