Taste is sweet, nature is warm, non-toxic. It primarily treats deficiency and damage caused by wind-cold, pain and numbness in the waist and legs, calms the five zang organs, and supplements qi. Also known as Shi Yi Bing (Stone Malt Cake). It grows in the earth and stones of famous mountains; it can be gathered at any time.
This stone is also a type of Stalactite (Zhongru Shi), with a shape resembling Ching Qing (Azurite) but with white and black spots; it is soft, brittle, and easily broken. It is currently found on both the east and west sides of Maoshan and in Xiping Mountain, where it can be obtained by chiseling into the soil. It is not seen used in common prescriptions, but it is used in Liu Jun Daoxian San (Master Liu's Immortal-Guiding Powder) from the *Immortal Classics* (*Xian Jing*). Furthermore, *Zhen Gao* records that Li Zheng collected and consumed it to treat wind-bi (wind-damp obstruction) and deficiency damage, thereby attaining longevity.
[Verification] During the Sui Dynasty, there was an alchemist named Hua Gong who consumed something also called Shi Nao (Stone Brain), originating from Zongli Mountain in Xuzhou. Initially found among rotten stones, it was obtained more than one zhang below the ground. It was as large as a chicken egg or a date; upon contact, it scattered like flour, appearing yellowish-white. Locals called it "Woxue Shi" (Snow-Holding Stone), claiming that consuming it grants longevity. This aligns with the case of Li Zheng.
Taste is sour, nature is warm, extremely hot, and toxic. It primarily treats vaginal erosion/ulceration in women, carbuncles and hemorrhoids, foul blood, strengthens bones and tendons, and treats alopecia capitis (scalp hair loss). It treats accumulations in the heart and abdomen, cold phlegm-rheum in the hypochondrium, cough with rebellious qi, cold painful weakness in the feet, epistaxis (nosebleed), malignant sores, lower body wet sores, stops bleeding, and kills scabies mites. It can dissolve gold, silver, copper, iron, and other strange substances. It grows in the Yangmu Valley of Donghai, as well as Mount Tai and Hexi Mountain; it is the liquid form of Alum Stone (Fan Shi).
Donghai Commandery belonged to North Xuzhou, and Jishan also has production. Currently, the first grade comes from Funan Linyi, with a color like a newly hatched goose egg, named Kunlun Huang (Kunlun Yellow). The next grade comes from foreign lands via Shu, with a deep and brilliant color. Common prescriptions use it to treat leg weakness and chronic cold conditions very effectively. The *Immortal Classics* also make considerable use of it. The "strange substances" it dissolves refer to methods in the *Huangbai Shu* (Art of Yellow and White) and elixir compounding techniques. It states here that it is the liquid of Alum Stone; however, since there is no Alum Stone in the south now, this may not be accurate.
Taste is salty, nature is slightly warm, non-toxic. It primarily treats metrorrhagia and leukorrhea (uterine bleeding and discharge), breaks up blood stasis in the child-bearing uterus, resolves masses and qi stagnation, treats alternating chills and fever, abdominal pain, infertility, impotence and sexual dysfunction, and supplements deficiencies. It treats coldness in the glans penis, damp itching in the genital area, removes foul sweat, and reduces edema. Long-term consumption prevents hunger and enables procreation. Also known as Bai Shi (White Stone), Shi Sheng (Stone Born), Yang Qi Shi (Yang Rising Stone); it is the root of Muscovite (Yun Mu). It grows in the valleys of Mount Qi and Langya Yunshan, Yangqi Mountain; it can be gathered at any time. Sang Piao Xiao (Mantis Egg Case) acts as its guiding herb; it is incompatible with Ze Xie (Alisma Rhizome), Jun Gui (Cassia Twig), Lei Wan (Polyporus Umbellatus), and Snake Skin; it fears Tu Si Zi (Cuscuta Seed). The origin of this stone is the same as Muscovite, and it resembles Muscovite greatly, but is denser and more solid. Current usage originates from Yizhou, where it coexists with Alum Stone; the yellowish-black ones are Alum Stone. It is unknown what exactly constitutes the "root of Muscovite." Common usage is rare. The *Immortal Classics* also consume it.
[Verification] This stone is considered superior if it is white, has a texture similar to Yin Nie (a pathological condition implying dark/damp accumulation), and contains greenish luster from Muscovite. Therefore, the *Shennong Bencao Jing* states that black ones are Yun Dan (Cloud Gallbladder), also known as Di Zhuo; consuming them harms the human body, and black Yang Qi Shi must be inferior/harmful. The *Bencao Jing* states it grows in Qi Mountain. Qi Mountain is located 5-6 li northwest of Licheng in Qizhou; investigations found no Yang Qi Shi there. Yang Qi Shi is actually produced in Lu Mountain, 6-7 li northwest of Qi Mountain. The *Bencao Jing*'s mention of "Yun Cloud Mountain" suggests a textual error between "Yun" and "Lu". Currently, Mount Tai and Yizhou only have black varieties, while white varieties are exclusively produced in Qizhou.
