[Shengyi Yili Jindan (Great Sage One-Pill Golden Elixir)]
Indications: Primarily treats spleen and stomach injuries caused by consuming cold foods, as well as damage from excessive alcohol and improper diet. These injuries may accumulate over time to form Pi masses (abdominal masses), leading to a sensation of fullness and obstruction in the chest and diaphragm, and unbearable pain in the heart and abdomen. Upon administration, if there are stagnations or accumulations in the zang-fu organs, defecation will occur once to expel them; if there are no such stagnations, bowel movements will remain unchanged!
Formula: Dingxiang (Clove), Huoxiang (Patchouli Herb), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Ruxiang (Frankincense), Chenxiang (Aquilaria Wood), Guixin (Cinnamon Twig), Wuzhuyu (Evodia Fruit), Qingpi (Citrus Reticulata Peel, white pith removed), Peng'ezhu (Curcuma Phaeocaulis Rhizome), Zhishi (Immature Bitter Orange, white pith removed, bran-fried), Jingsanleng (Burreed Tuber) (each 1 liang). Sha (4 qian). Qian Niu Mo (Ground Semen Pharbitidis, 3 liang). Jupi (Tangerine Peel, 1 liang, white pith removed, processed together with Badou [Croton Seed] 5 liang... *Note: The original text contains formatting errors or omissions here, typically implying co-processing*).
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Use wheat paste to form pills the size of mung beans. Take 20 to 30 pills per dose, swallowed with warm water.
[Extended Indications]
Zhongfeng (Wind Stroke), Tanhuan (Paralysis), Fengxian (Wind-induced Epilepsy), Anfeng (Sudden unconsciousness without speech due to wind), Tongfeng (Bi-syndrome with severe pain), Shouma (Hand numbness), Zu ruo (Foot weakness), Han Shi Bi (Cold-Damp Bi-syndrome), Bi tui gu tong (Bone pain in arms and legs), Hexifeng (Crane-knee Wind, a type of bi-syndrome characterized by swollen knee joints).
This prescription was transmitted by Lu Zhongfa, an official of the Zhejiang Grain Transport Bureau. It is used to treat all kinds of wind diseases in men and women, where both qi and blood are deficient, and yin and yang are imbalanced (with hemiplegia or loss of function on one side). It addresses sudden onset of wind stroke, stiffness, convulsions, loss of consciousness, aphonia with tongue stiffness, limb traction and deviation, facial paralysis (deviation of mouth and eyes), or paralysis with hemiplegia, disordered behavior, and limb numbness. It also treats epilepsy with falling unconsciousness, closed eyes, profuse salivation with gurgling sounds, opisthotonos (body bent backward like a bow), coma, and trismus (lockjaw). Furthermore, it treats wind pathogens clashing with the yang meridians, causing dizziness, headache, tinnitus (ringing in ears like cicadas), skin twitching, frequent yawning with inability to look back, and kidney wind deficiency causing pain in the feet and knees and difficulty walking.
Take one pill per dose. Grate half a liang of fresh ginger (including peel) to extract its natural juice. Dissolve the pill completely in the ginger juice. Then, soak it in half a cup of unclarified wine (wine not treated with lime), warmed. Drink at a comfortable temperature. Depending on the patient's tolerance to alcohol, consume an additional 1 to 2 sheng of warm wine to assist the medicinal power. Cover the patient with blankets and allow them to rest. Sweating indicates efficacy. For mild cases, take half a pill at any time. Regular use for wind diseases is particularly beneficial. This formula tonifies the five zang organs, consolidates true qi, unblocks joints, dispels wind pathogens, strengthens tendons and bones, and is also known as Baoming Dan (Life-Preserving Pill). It has miraculous effects that cannot be fully described; it is precious and should be cherished for saving lives.
Formula: Chuan Wutou (Prepared Aconiti Lateralis Radix, peeled and umbilicus removed), Da Fuzi (Prepared Aconiti Radix, peeled and umbilicus removed), Bai Fuzi (Prepared Typhonii Rhizoma, each 1 liang), Bai Jiangcan (Cleaned Bombyx Batryticatus, fried, cleaned... *text incomplete*), Zhusha (Ground Cinnabar... *text incomplete*).
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder and mix evenly. Use the previously mentioned ink juice (or specific liquid vehicle) to bind the medicine. Divide each liang of powder into six pills. Dry them in the shade. Coat with gold foil. Administer according to the aforementioned method.
