Each night before sleep, take a small amount to brush teeth, as usual. These three prescriptions were taken throughout the life of Scholar Yu Yiju, who regarded them as family treasures. He claimed to have received them from Mr. Shen in Qieweng City, with details recorded in the preface. After the age of forty, people often become lethargic in all affairs because Heart Fire fails to descend. Thus, this prescription was made to rescue deficiency, preserve spirit, astringe essence, and secure Yang. Men taking it will see miraculous effects; its efficacy cannot be fully described by pen and ink, nor can it be prescribed without profound wisdom. Hence it is called "Nameless." Another variation adds Yuanzhi (Radix Polygalae), Lianrou (Semen Nelumbinis), and Baifuling (Poria with Hostwood, heart removed), each 1 liang [approx. 50g]. It is also stated that Suhexiang Wan (Styrax Pill) can be used to take it down.
Maoshan Cangzhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Lanceae from Maoshan, 1 jin [approx. 500g], not soaked, pounded in a mortar with a rolling pin until slightly smooth, sifted cleanly to remove coarse skin, but not overly refined) Longgu (Os Draconis, 1 liang [approx. 50g], separately ground into powder) Chishizhi (Halloysitum Rubrum, 2 liang [approx. 100g], ground) Chuan Wutou (Radix Aconiti Kusnezoffii, large ones, 1 liang [approx. 50g], processed until cracked, skin and navel removed) Poguzhi (Fructus Cnidii, 2 liang [approx. 100g], lightly stir-fried) Chuanlianzi (Fructus Toosendan, 3 liang [approx. 150g], pips removed, lightly stir-fried) Huixiang (Fructus Foeniculi, from maritime regions and Nanjing, 1.5 liang [approx. 75g] each, lightly stir-fried)
Pound and sieve the above into a fine powder, mix thoroughly. Use wine-boiled wheat paste to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Coat with Zhusha (Cinnabar). Yield: up to 100 pills, or as few as 30. Take before meals with warm wine, rice drink, or salt water. If one wishes to rely on the medicinal power, take 50 pills with cold wine. This is beneficial for women suffering from infertility.
