Zeng Fupan (Assistant Prefect) Maozhao stated:
Crotonis Fructus (one seed, remove shell and membrane) Fermented Soybean (one piece)
Grind the above two ingredients together until they form a paste. For each use, take an amount the size of a needle head, wrap it in Lian paper, and place it on the painful area to stop pain immediately. Do not use too much, and do not let it touch the gums, as it may damage the flesh.
Another prescription: Xiangbaizhi (Aucklandiae Radix, preferably from Taipingzhou, quantity unspecified) Cinnabaris (one-tenth the weight of Aucklandiae Radix, separately ground)
Grind the above two ingredients into fine powder, mix evenly with Cinnabaris, and make pills using refined honey, sized like large cherries. Use one pill each time, rub it on the painful area to stop pain immediately. Guo Yi from Luzhou passed down this saying: he personally tried it many times with consistent efficacy, surpassing other medicines. This prescription originated from a village woman in Haoliang who practiced medicine; she treated the wife of a teacher's master. In urgent situations without Cinnabaris or honey, it is also usable, as its efficacy lies primarily in Xiangbaizhi. Zhao Congjian, Assistant Prefect, used only equal parts of Aucklandiae Radix and Asari Radix, which was also effective every time!
For treating toothache, Lifxiao San (Instant Effect Powder).
Lingxiang (Agarwood, washed clean, dried over soft fire) Bibie (Piperis Kadsurae Fructus, washed, chopped, steamed and dried over fire)
Grind the above two ingredients into equal parts powder. First, grind a piece of charcoal into fine powder, wipe the painful area, cleaning both the teeth and gums thoroughly. Then apply the medicinal powder to the painful area. It treats wind-toothache in the elderly, gan-accumulation toothache in children, and zouma-gan (gangrenous stomatitis), among others.
For cases where various medicines are ineffective, Professor Zhang of Hanyang's prescription:
Yuanhua (Genkwa Flos) ground into fine powder, applied to the painful area until it feels hot, stopping pain immediately.
Chitu (Red Earth) and Jingjie (Schizonepetae Herba) ground into fine powder, rubbed onto the teeth, followed by rinsing with Jingjie decoction.
Rinse mouth with strong decoction of Ku Zhuye (Bitter Bamboo Leaf). Also, slice fermented eggplant slices, roast them on a new tile until dry and black, grind into powder, and apply to the affected area.
Another prescription, recorded in *Bozhai Bian*: A scholar suddenly experienced bleeding from the tongue with small holes remaining. The famous physician Geng Yu said, "This is called xuenü (blood epistaxis/nasal bleed equivalent in oral context)." He healed it by applying fried Huaihua (Sophorae Flos).
Ci Wuji Fen (Female Black Chicken Manure) Xiong Wuji Fen (Male Black Chicken Manure) (Raise these two chickens, collect their manure) Old Shoe Soles Hemp soles are especially good
Take the above three ingredients in equal parts, burn them to ash while preserving their nature, grind finely, add Shexiang (Musk), grind together, and apply to the gums. Li Mo Anfu's daughter lost her baby teeth but they did not grow back after a year, causing great worry. [After using this method], they grew back.
