*Zisheng Jing* states: Anorexia has several categories. There is anorexia due to pathogenic heat in the Sanjiao (Triple Burner), anorexia due to stomach heat, anorexia due to stomach cold, and anorexia due to cold Qi in the six Fu organs. Medication should be prescribed according to the syndrome. Regarding acupuncture and moxibustion, one must also understand the methods of tonification and sedation. The *Records of the Grand Historian* (*Shiji*) records: When Marquis Yang Xu was critically ill, most physicians diagnosed it as Jue syndrome (reversal condition). Taicai Gong (Chunyu Yi) examined the pulse and determined the root of the Bi syndrome (obstruction syndrome) was located in the large masses under both hypochondria, resembling an inverted cup, causing wheezing, rebellious Qi, and inability to eat. This disease originated from internal injury. He immediately applied moxibustion to the umbilicus and had the patient consume porridge. After six days, the Qi descended, and he then administered pill medicine. After six days of fluctuation, the illness was cured. Thus, inability to eat can also result from Bi syndrome; it is incorrect to generalize all cases as merely stomach cold or heat.
