Postpartum distension and fullness in the hypochondriac region is caused by retained water previously stagnating in the Bladder. Due to incomplete expulsion of lochia after childbirth, water and blood become obstructed and stagnant, clashing with Qi in the Bladder region. This causes distension and fullness in the hypochondriac area. The striking interaction among Qi, Blood, and Water results in pain.
Prescriptions:
Chenju Pi San (Tangerine Peel Powder): Treats postpartum distension and fullness in both hypochondria, oppression and stuffiness in the heart and abdomen, and loss of appetite.
