Wind-stroke with fever manifests as anhidrosis (absence of sweating), vexatious pain in the limbs and joints, abdominal urgency, and difficulty in urination and defecation. This is because wind-pathogen lodges in the body, causing the skin pores to close tightly, leading to internal heat stagnation and dryness.
Wubu Wan (Five-Ingredient Pill, from *Qianjin Fang*)
For those taking decoctions for wind-diseases who often suffer from deficiency-heat or a mild, continuous fever, this formula is suitable to clear heat.
Fangfeng (*Saposhnikoviae Radix*), Renshen (*Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma*), Congrong (*Cynomorii Fructus*), Dihuang (*Rehmanniae Radix*), Maidong (*Ophiopogonis Tuber*), Tianmendong (*Asparagi Tuber*) (each 1 liang 5 qian); Shaoyao (*Paeoniae Radix*), Duhuo (*Angelicae Pubescentis Radix*), Jiangjiang (*Zingiberis Rhizoma*), Baizhu (*Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma*), Danshen (*Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma*), Wujia Pi (*Acanthopanacis Cortex*), Fuzi (*Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata*, processed, peel and core removed, 8 zhu); Shihu (*Dendrobii Caulis*) (root removed, 10 zhu). Avoid oily noodles, garlic, raw/cold foods, vinegar, slippery foods, and meats such as pork, mutton, chicken, and fish.
