后
Qi and Blood nourish and enrich. Externally, they moisten the Couli (the interstitial spaces of the skin and hair follicles). Thus, the physical form is solid and full. After sweating or purgation in Cold Damage (Shanghan), Qi and Blood become deficient. The Zang-Fu organs are deficient and cold. Ying and Wei (Nutritive and Defensive Qi) become stagnant. Body fluids fail to circulate. Muscles lack nourishment and enrichment. Hence, generalized edema occurs. If both the Spleen and Kidney are deficient, failing to control water metabolism, water qi overflows into the skin, resulting in water retention and distension.
Formula: Huang Tang treats post-Cold Damage generalized swelling and fullness, chest and heart oppression, panting, and abdominal fullness.
Huangqi (Cinnamon Twig Decoction - *Note: Text says "Huang", likely Huangqi or similar, but context implies a specific herb often paired with Fufang. Given "Huang" alone usually refers to Huangqi or Gancao in abbreviated texts, but here listed first. Let's assume Huangqi based on common usage for deficiency edema, though strictly it says "Huang". I will translate as "Huang" referring to the herb mentioned, likely Astragali Radix (Huangqi) or Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao) depending on missing character.
