Whenever limbs and joints suffer fractures or contusions, with skin and flesh ruptured, and the wound fails to heal for a long time, external wind pathogen invasion causes muscle coldness. Due to cold obstruction, qi and blood cannot converge and consolidate, leading to struggle between qi and blood, preventing dispersion. Thus, "wind swelling" (Fengzhong) occurs. If this swelling does not dissipate, it transforms into pus, bleeding, and tissue necrosis.
Formulas:
Moyao San (Myrrh Powder) [from *Shengji Zonglu*]: Treats wind swelling that fails to dissipate due to wind-cold invasion following trauma.
Ingredients: Myrrha (ground), Angelicae Radix (sliced and dried), Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma, Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (roasted), Zanthoxyli Fructus (eyes and closed seeds removed to induce sweating), Cinnamomi Ramulus (bark removed), Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata (processed, peel and umbilicus removed), Arecae Semen (raw and crushed). Each half liang.
Usage: Grind ingredients into powder. Take 2 qian per dose, mixed with warm wine. No specific timing required.
Xuduan Tang (Dipsacus Decoction) [from *Shengji Zonglu*]: Treats wind swelling and pain caused by wind-cold injury following trauma.
Ingredients: Dipsaci Caulis, Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata (dried), Euphrasiae Herba, Angelicae Radix (sliced and dried), Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma, Aconiti Radix (processed, peel and umbilicus removed), Cinnamomi Ramulus (bark removed). Each 1 liang.
Usage: Coarsely crush ingredients. Take 3 qian per dose, decoct in one cup of water until reduced to 0.7 cups, strain, and take warm. No specific timing required.
Danggui Tang (Angelica Decoction) [from *Shengji Zonglu*]: Treats wind-toxin attack causing persistent swelling and pain after trauma with ruptured skin and flesh.
Ingredients: Angelicae Radix (sliced and dried), Rhei Radix et Rhizoma (crushed and fried), Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, Saposhnikoviae Radix (forked parts removed), Aconiti Radix (cracked and processed, peel and umbilicus removed). Each 1 liang.
Usage: Crush and sieve ingredients. Take 3 qian per dose, decoct in one cup of water until reduced to 0.7 cups, strain, and take warm. No specific timing required.
Jingjie San (Schizonepeta Powder) [from *Shengji Zonglu*]: Treats wind swelling resulting from trauma.
Ingredients: Schizonepetae Spica, Angelicae Radix (sliced and dried), Dipsaci Caulis, Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma (crushed). Each 1 liang.
Usage: Grind into powder. Take 3 qian per dose, mixed with warm wine. No specific timing required.
Dihuang San (Rehmannia Powder) [from *Shengji Zonglu*]: Treats swelling and pain with non-healing skin and flesh due to wind-cold invasion after trauma.
Ingredients: Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata (dried), Angelicae Radix (sliced and dried), Angelicae Pubescentis Radix (rhizome removed). Each 1 liang.

Ingredients: Pinelliae Tuber (soaked in water, peel and umbilicus removed), Saposhnikoviae Radix (rhizome removed). Equal parts ground into powder.
Usage: For open wounds, apply powder directly to the sore. Then, mix 1 qian with a small amount of fresh Ginger Juice and warm water to drink. For trismus (lockjaw) or opisthotonos, use 2 qian mixed with urine from an uncircumcised boy. For general trauma, use 2 qian mixed with warm wine.
