When wind-heat accumulates in the zang-fu organs for a long time, it steams inwardly to affect the Liver Meridian (Liver Channel), and rushes upward to manifest in the eyes. Initially, there is swelling and redness, dull pain, and excessive tearing. After a long time, body fluids become dry and scarce, leading to swollen eyelids and tight skin.
The *Longmu Lun* states: "In-turned eyelashes with curled lashes" belongs to external obstruction eye diseases. At the onset of this condition, it is always caused by heat in the Liver and wind-deficiency in the diaphragm, resulting in excessive tearing, itching, or pain in the eyes.
The song says: If wind causes redness of the eyelids and continuous tears, with nebulae secretly forming and vision gradually obscured.
