Ingredients: Borax (1 fen), Cinnabar (1 fen, both ground extremely fine). Use half a liang of yellow beeswax, 30-40 pods of Crotonis Fructus (Badou, 巴豆), removing shells, skins, and membranes. Boil together in a silver or earthenware vessel over double-boiling water for one fu shi (approx. 2 hours), until the Crotonis Fructus turns purple. Remove 21 pods of Crotonis Fructus, and grind them together with the previous two ingredients until very uniform. Melt the wax again to coat the medicine, then roll into pills the size of mung beans. Take 3-5 pills per dose. For watery diarrhea, take with Ginger Decoction; for white dysentery, take with Mugwort Decoction; for red-and-white dysentery, take with Mume Decoction.
