Medical texts describe the condition as "excess above and deficiency below," and "excess on the exterior and deficiency within." Consequently, when Qi rebellion occurs, it manifests as Jue syndrome (cold extremities due to Qi stagnation). The so-called Qi rebellion refers to an abundance of pathogenic Yin Qi ascending to overwhelm the Yang, leading to Yang deficiency in the upper body.
Extreme anger causes Qi to rebel upwards; in severe cases, it may result in vomiting blood. There are also cases where improper diet leads to Qi rebellion. For individuals who cannot lie flat due to Qi rebellion and have silent respiration, yet their daily activities remain normal and their pulse is regular, this falls into the category described above.
If the Cun Kou pulse (pulse at the radial artery near the wrist crease) is deep and hidden (Fu), it indicates rebellious Qi in the chest. If the Guan pulse (pulse at the middle position of the radial artery) is fine and thin (Xi), it indicates abdominal pain and fullness caused by rebellious Qi.
