When women experience vomiting, it is caused by pathogenic factors and coldness in the Spleen and Stomach, leading to dysfunction in the digestion and transportation of food and fluids. The Stomach is the "Sea of Water and Grain." If its Qi mechanism is disordered and Wind-Cold invades, medication cannot be applied uniformly. For vomiting due to Cold in the Stomach, Ju Fang Renshen Muxiang San (Bureau Formula Ginseng and Costus Powder), Lizhong Wan (Regulate the Middle Pill), and Xu Wan (Dr. Xu's Pill) are suitable. For vomiting due to Heat in the Stomach, Xiao Chaihu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction), Lugen Tang (Reed Root Decoction), Zhuru Tang (Bamboo Shavings Decoction), and Huaihua San (Sophora Flower Powder) are suitable. For vomiting due to Heat in the middle Jiao, Ju Fang Huoxiang Zhengqi San (Bureau Formula Agastache Regulating Qi Powder) and Shengjiang Zaozi Jian (Ginger and Jujube Decoction) are suitable; taking them when cool will stop the vomiting. For vomiting due to excessive Phlegm, Ju Fang Banxia Fuling Tang (Bureau Formula Pinellia and Poria Decoction) and Erchen Tang (Two Aged Substances Decoction) are suitable. For morning sickness (Ezu), Fuling Wan (Poria Pill) can be taken concurrently. For vomiting due to Blood failing to return to its source, Shiquan Dabu Tang (Ten Substance Great Tonifying Decoction) with Chenpi (Tangerine Peel), Banxia (Pinellia), Huoxiang (Agastache), Zao (Jujube), and Jiang (Ginger) decocted is suitable. Other formulas such as Aidang Tang (Fetus-Obstructing Decoction) and Wuwu Tang (Five Substance Decoction) may also serve as main treatments.
During pregnancy, if one consumes sour fruits, it may cause fullness in the hypochondrium and vomiting, damaging Qi and weakening the Zang-Fu organs. In prolonged illness or during recovery, cough, asthma, and hiccups often occur. However, cough-hiccup is the most difficult to treat, and other diseases also present poorly with this symptom. If this syndrome appears, Jupi Ganjiang Tang (Tangerine Peel and Dried Ginger Decoction), Xiao Chaihu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction), or Jupi Zhuru Tang (Tangerine Peel and Bamboo Shavings Decoction) are suitable. I once treated a patient with dysentery who had incessant hiccups; the six pulses were deep and weak. Medications and moxibustion by other physicians were ineffective. I administered Tuiyin San (Yield-Yin Powder); two doses cured him. I also treated Lord Xu, who presented with vomiting and hiccup. Although the classics state "Without Yin, Yang has no basis," Xiao Chaihu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction), Sun Zhao's Zhuru Tang (Bamboo Shavings Decoction), and Zhuling Tang (Polyporus Decoction) are suitable. I also treated a case of vomiting following dysentery.
