The *Jisheng Fang* states: The lips are governed by the Spleen. The Stomach is internally-externally related to the Spleen and serves as its partner. The Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian originates at the nose, circles the lips, and its branch connects with the Spleen and Stomach. When pathogenic factors invade, diseases of the lips occur. Generally, excess Wind causes the lips to swell and peel; excess Dryness causes them to become dry; excess Heat causes cracking; Qi stagnation leads to ulceration; and Blood deficiency results in dark, lusterless lips. The treatment method involves internal regulation of the Spleen and external application of medicinal ointments, both of which are invariably effective.
The Spleen and Stomach are paired, belonging to the Foot-Yangming Meridian, which is the meridian of the Stomach. This meridian originates at the nose, circles the lips, and its branch enters and connects with the Spleen. If there is Heat in the Spleen and Stomach,
