The symptom of tight lips. Its root cause is similar to that of lip sores. When the sore has not yet healed, heat accumulates in the stomach, and it is further attacked by wind-dampness, causing the lips to swell and develop sores, becoming tight and painful.
Regarding the pulse (the original text only lists "pulse" without detailing specific characteristics).
Apply Lv Pao San (Green Robe Powder). If there is no improvement, apply Fu Yan San (Feast-Attending Powder); if still ineffective, apply Qian Bai Shuang San (Lead White Frost Powder), and then recovery will be achieved.
Formulas:
Jia Jian Chun Zhi (Shell-Lac Lip Balm)
Treats cracked lips and bad breath.
First, pound hemp into a paste and apply it to the rims of two containers, about half an inch thick. Select good porcelain bottles with a capacity of over one *dou* (approx. 10 liters), and dry the applied areas in the sun.
Gan Song Xiang (Nardostachys Rhizome, 5 liang), Ai Na Xiang (Eucalyptus Leaf Oil/Resin), Mu Xu Xiang (Medicago Sativa Fragrance), Mao Xiang (Imperata Cylindrica Root, each 1 liang), Huo Xiang (Pogostemon Cablin, 3 liang), Ling Ling Xiang (Lingzhi/Lycoris Fragrance, 4 liang). The above six ingredients are first placed in water (text missing, inferred as soaking or boiling process), then Shang Se Chen Xiang (Aged Agarwood, 3 jin), Que Tou Xiang (Bird Head Fragrance), Su He Xiang (Styrax Resin, each 3 liang), Bai Jiao Xiang (White Dragon's Blood Resin), Bai Tan Xiang (White Sandalwood, each 5 liang), She Xiang (Musk), Jia Xiang (Shell Lac), Ding Xiang (Clove) and other spices are added. Place the container mouth level with the ground. Invert the fragrance bottle over the oil bottle so the mouths align. Seal the junction of the two bottles firmly with hemp paste, about half an inch thick. Cover the bottles with bran, five inches thick, and start burning. Add more bran as the fire diminishes. Burn continuously for three days and nights without letting the fire go out. After consuming twelve *shi* (approx. 600 kg) of bran, stop burning for two days until cool, then retrieve. Separately refine eight *jin* of beeswax, boil several times, add Zi Cao (Arnebiae Radix/Radix Lithospermi, 12 liang), and decoct for dozens of boils. Take one stem of Zi Cao and grind it against a fingernail; when the center turns white, remove it. Filter through cotton cloth and mix with the previous liquid. Then add Liu Sha Fen (Cinnabar Powder, 6 liang) and stir until uniform. While slightly cooled but not solidified, pour into bamboo tubes, wrap with paper and bind with hemp cord. Once solidified and cooled, unwrap and use as needed. This yields fifty cakes.
Jia Jian Kou Zhi (Shell-Lac Mouth Lip Balm) (From *Qian Jin Fang*)
Treats pale lips lacking blood color and bad breath. Uses the method of burning incense.

Filter through cotton cloth and place in a porcelain jar. Pound the remaining eight fragrances into powder, mix with honey (not too wet), and fill a small porcelain jar. Wrap the mouth with cotton cloth and secure in a cross pattern. Invert the small jar over a large jar, seal the mouths tightly with mud. Bury the oil jar in the ground so the mouth is level with the surface. Burn using dried cow dung (or bran). Burn for seven days and nights without haste; twelve days is better. Retrieve after cooling. The jars must be coated evenly with hot mud, one inch thick, and dried before use.
