Ezhu (Malignant Transmission Disease) refers to malignant and toxic qi. When the human body is deficient in healthy qi, it becomes susceptible to this pathogen. The toxic qi enters the meridians and collaterals, subsequently flowing and migrating to the heart and abdomen. Its clinical manifestation involves paroxysmal, striking pain characteristic of transmission diseases.
Niuhuang San (Civet and Bezoar Powder; sourced from *Shenghui Fang*, also known as Qianjin Wugong Tang): Treats malignant transmission disease caused by evil qi, presenting with heart pain radiating back and forth between the chest and back, or invading the skin, with migratory and不定 (uncertain) locations.
Ingredients: Niuhuang (Calculus Bovis, 1 liang, finely ground); Wugong (Scolopendra, 1 piece, slightly roasted and feet removed); Zhusha (Cinnabar, 1 liang, finely ground; another version uses Dansha); Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, ban liang); Chuan Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, 1 liang, sliced and slightly roasted); Guijiu (Dysosma Versipellis Rhizoma, ban liang, mustaches removed); Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, 1 liang); Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, ban liang, sliced and slightly roasted); Guixin (Cinnamomi Cortex, ban liang); Renshen (Ginseng Radix, ban liang, radix removed); Shexiang (Moschus, 1 fen, finely ground); Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, ban liang, processed until cracked, peel and navel removed); Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, ban liang, processed until cracked and sliced). All ingredients are sifted and ground into a powder.

To dispel evil spirits and stop fright
Use Nancǎo (Hemerocallis citrina, also known as Daylily). Wrap a piece in red silk and have young children wear it for protection.
To treat strong ghosts possessing individuals and causing malignancy
Use the handle of an iron hammer combined with Taonuo (Old Peach Twig) and Guijianyu (Eucommiae Cortex or related species depending on interpretation, here likely referring to Araliae Chinensis Ramulus) to form pills for administration.
