Book: Puji Fang (Universal Effective Prescriptions)
Author: Zhu Zi
Dynasty: Ming Dynasty, Yongle 4th Year
Chapter: E Feng (With Discussion) - Wind Aversion
Category: Formulas
[Translation]
Wind aversion (a syndrome characterized by sensitivity to wind and fear of drafts) is caused by the severe qi of the five winds. Winds differ in colors—green, white, red, black, and yellow. When their toxicity enters the five zang organs, it generates parasites; there are also five types of parasites. Consequently, discussions and formulas vary.
Sheng San (from *Shengji Zonglu*)

*Gastrodiae Rhizoma* (Tianma), *Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma* (Changpu, selected as nine-joint type, soaked in rice water and dried), *Polygoni Multiflori Radix* (Heshouwu), *Boswelliae Resina* (Ruxiang, ground), *Chrysanthemi Flos* (Juhua), *Viticis Fructus* (Manjingzi), *Clematidis Radix et Rhizoma* (Weilingxian), *Lycii Cortex* (Digupi), *Xanthii Fructus* (Cangerzi), *Sophorae Flavescentis Radix* (Kushen), *Adenophorae Radix* (Shashen), *Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix* (Danshen), *Ginseng Radix* (Renshen), *Scrophulariae Radix* (Yuanshen), *Bupleuri Radix* (Zishen), *Schizonepetae Spica* (Jingjie) (each half liang). Grind into powder. Take 2 qian per dose, mixed with warm wine. Take one dose before meals and one after. On the eve prior, consume one pig kidney. In the morning, take three doses consecutively.
